Each van is equipped with rear and front air conditioning and large viewing windows on all sides of the vehicle.
Kauai’s East Side Sightseeing
The first segment of your Best of Kauai driving tour will take you to Kauai’s east shores’ best beaches, mountains, waterfalls and Heiau’s (sacred ancient Hawaiian sites). Have your camera poised and ready as every where you visit throughout the day will provide the best of Kauai’s photography opportunities.
Wailua River Boat Cruise & Fern Grotto Sightseeing Tour
The Best of Kauai Tour continues with a visit to the Wailua River Marina where you will board a spacious, open-air river boat for a two mile leisurely journey to the Fern Grotto. At the Fern Grotto landing, you’ll enjoy a short nature walk through the rainforest to the lush Fern Grotto. The Fern Grotto is a geological wonder of Kauai where ferns grow upside down from the roof of the grotto. A natural amphitheater of lava rock and tropical vegetation are the perfect backdrop as you are serenaded and entertained by Hawaiian musicians and hula dancers. The Wailua River is Hawaii’s only navigable river and is also a popular place for water skiing, kayaking, canoe and stand up paddling.
Kauai North Shore Sightseeing
Next, you will visit the Island’s Northern most point and the Kilauea Lighthouse and the nearby Kilauea Wildlife Refuge and bird sanctuary. View many seabirds including the Layson Albatross, Boobies and Tropic Birds as well as Nene Geese which frequent the area. During the winter months the Kilauea Lighthouse is a great place to watch for Hawaii’s seasonal visitors, the Humpback whales.
Scenic Beauty, Hawaiian Culture, and “Local Grinds”
The Best of Kauai driving tour also includes stops and views of the Sleeping Giant, Hanalei Bay, Hanalei Taro Fields, Anini Beach and the Northsore areas. Sugar cane fields and remnants of the old plantation days dot your Best of Kauai tour route and our knowledgeable tour guides add to your sightseeing experience with tales of Kauai’s past. For our no-host lunch, we visit the Wailua Marina Restaurant, a favorite of locals and visitors since 1968. From the colorful murals and an extensive tiki collection to the delicious house specialties, you’ll relish the feeling of Old Hawaii and the spirit of Aloha.
