Book limousine for Jonny Lang

World Cafe Live
3025 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA, 19104

with Jack Broadbent
Sixteen years ago, at the age of 16, Jonny Lang found incredible success with the release of his major label debut album Lie To Me. Fame does not seem to have impacted him from being the same country farm boy from Fargo, ND who got his start in the local clubs of Minneapolis. He survived the passage of youth to adulthood, fell in love, began a family, and in the process passed through the life lessons we all endure. He has a keen sense of what he aims to achieve creatively, what music means to him, and is focused on the impact that his songs bring to the lives of those that encounter his repertoire. For Lang, with the release of Fight For My Soul, he is entering a chapter wherein he has found his true voice. When asked what he would tell his younger self if he was afforded the opportunity to share advise, he wisely answers, I would say all of those voices steering you away from questionable decisions, listen to them. They are right. He has encountered many in the public eye through his career that approaches two decades. With those experiences, and the personality traits he has witnessed, he has a clarity of how he wants to be, and how he wants to treat others. This sense of who he wants to be is the core of the album. Lang shares, The inspiration for the songs on the record vary widely. Some are about personal struggles, some are focused on injustices I have seen. Some are random fictional stories that hopefully can relate to people in some way that is a blessing to them. Ive wanted to make this album for a long time. Creatively, I think there is a lot more going on inside of me than Ive been sharing on recordings. The album defies categorization by a single genre. The textured arrangements, broad worldview, gorgeous vocal melodies, and expressive guitar playing are what defines Fight For My Soul. It is unequivocally what Lang aimed to achieve over the long period he has been working on reaching a realized vision. He offers, Much of what Ive experienced through music and life in general is in these songs. I really like reaching out and connecting with people. For me, this is what its all about. It keeps it fresh with different experiences every day.JonnyLang_2757RealaLang has been working on the release for three years with Producer Tommy Sims, who co-wrote Eric Claptons Grammy winning Change the World. The duo collaborated on the project from the ground up. The first step was fine-tuning the soulful numbers Lang demod at home. He relates, Sometimes I write music that I could never imagine putting on a record, and thanks to Tommys ability to see the continuity in these songs, where I might not have, they are on the album. Sims also brought in one number, the acoustic-electric soul-rocker Blew Up (The House), and played several instruments the album that include resonator guitar on that tune, and contributing world class bass guitar performances on select others. This grass roots approach was new to Lang, whose four earlier studio albums were written and crafted under the watch of his previous record labels. It was a welcome change. After Lang released his Grammy winning Turn Around in 2007, he made the decision to forego the major label route and became an independent artist. The first result was 2009s Live At the Ryman, but Fight For My Soul, by its nature, is his first fully realized artistic achievement through his own label SayRai Music, featuring his own touring band: drummer Barry Alexander, bassist James Anton, rhythm guitarist Akil Thompson, keyboardist Dwan Hill and background vocalist Missi Hale. Recording with the band for the first time was really gratifying, says Lang. Theyre all amazing musicians and weve grown together musically and personally by playing hundreds of live shows. This served us well in the making of Fight For My Soul. Because of them, I have grown musically in ways I never thought I could, and it really is an honor to have them on this record.JonnyLang_2386FujiRealaLangs full touring schedule as well as making his family a priority in his life, are the primary cause for the length of commitment it took to deliver this album. He reflects, Between being with my family, and being out on the road touring, the last thing you want to do when home is to go and make a record. We have had to pick our spots to fit in recording time. In the last year, weve been able to work on it more consistently, and to finally wrap this thing up. And with the delivery to label partners Mascot in Europe and Concord for North America, he achieved what he set out to deliver offering, Im really happy with the body of work we have for this one. Its kind of hard to be excited and know what the record was going to be like when the process is extended over such a long period of time. Today sitting here I am really proud of the recordings. As an artist he has evolved since he began the writing process. The sound of that evolution is all over Fight For My Soul. What Youre Looking For carefully layers banjo, guitars, spacey keyboards and a percussion sample to create a sonic dreamscape for its story of searching for lifes essentials faith, love, hope. The arrangement of We Are the Same evokes the freewheeling spirit of Motowns Psychedelic Shack era.Jonny_Lang_2715The path Lang has been on has brought him the opportunity to interact with some of the most respected legends in music. On the way up, he shared the stage with The Rolling Stones, B.B. King, Aerosmith, Sting, and Buddy Guy, who he continues to tour with today. As a 12-year-old, he began a journey in Fargo, ND that has brought him to points across the Globe, and as he looks on the upcoming near-term future, he shares, With this album, I really look forward to bringing our music to people in places where Ive never been before. Music is one of the greatest conveyers of ideas and emotions, and in a sense that doesnt have as much to do with the individual performing, but the power of the connection. One of my goals is the music can be a blessing to the people listening to it in some way. And if Fight For My Soul can help somebody by making them feel better or that theyre not alone, thats my idea of success for this album.#FIGHTFORMYSOUL

Book limo for Brett Dennen

Ardmore Music Hall
23 E Lancaster Avenue, Ardmore, PA, 19003

As common and simple as it is, "por favor" is such an evocative expression. From Spanish, it translates to "please," a word that suggests a need for something, a desire to make a change. "Por favor' was something I kept saying every day in the studio, and I got the other musicians saying it," says Brett Dennen. "We were goofing around, and Dave Cobb, my producer, said it should be the title of my new record. I laughed it off at first, but then I really thought about it.""When you say please, you're asking something to come into your life," Dennen adds. "It might mean that you're weak and need something to make you strong. But you're admitting to some sort of weakness or some form of humility."That notion is at the heart of Por Favor, Dennen's intimate and revealing new album that Elektra Records will release on May 20. Produced by Cobb, fresh from his Grammywinning work with Chris Stapleton and Jason Isbell, the record strips Dennen to his core as a songwriter with nothing to hide."All these songs came from a time of sadness for lots of different reasons. They came at a point when I wasn't feeling confident about myself," he says. "When I'm not feeling confident, I'm not a nice person to be around. I don't take care of my health, my relationships, my stuff, and it all cycles into a miserable place. And I have a really hard time admitting that I'm in that place."A followup to 2013's Smoke and Mirrors, his sixth studio album dives deep into loneliness, loss, and love and all its side effects. It's the sound of an artist working through his insecurities in song, and thereby letting go of them. But it's by no means a sad affair, nor is it the "rainyday record" Dennen initially thought he was making.Often framed by uplifting choruses and bright acoustic arrangements, these songs brim with optimism, the palpable sense that the tide is turning. "And I want to love you for the way you are/ Not the way I am/ So let's go now/ Back to the bonfire where we began," he sings over a chugging groove on "Bonfire."On "Where We Left Off," the album's emotional powder keg, Dennen lays himself bare over the slack strum of guitar and one of his most unvarnished vocals ever recorded. The opening lines go straight for the jugular: "Everyone knows I'm a happy man/ But I haven't been right.""Vulnerable was another word that kept coming up when I was making this record," Dennen admits. "Is there something I'm scared to say? Can I dig a little deeper, reveal a little bit more? How far can I go That was my direction, and once I got that in place, I started shooting down things that weren't in that zone.""I kept telling myself that all I have to do is be authentic and make the songs about the lyrics and how they interact with my guitar," he continues. "I don't have to worry about whether they'll be on the radio or if they're different from my previous stuff."Holed up at Cobb's Nashville studio, with musicians the producer assembled, Dennen and Cobb worked fast and kept the songs rough around the edges. Dennen appreciated Cobb's insistence on capturing them in just a few takes. "We recorded it the way people made records in the '60s - really fast, all on analog gear, very few rehearsals," he says. "We didn't do anything more than five times. We didn't secondguess ourselves - we just went with it. It's not sloppy, but it's in that right place between loose and tight and feelgood but not labored."Cobb adds, "I worked with Brett because of his beautiful balance of wit and melody. He's very timeless in his writing and you really can hear his personality in every note he sings. The record was made totally live and we recorded all the vocals live with the band. It really was produced as stopped down as possible - we tried to make every note matter."More than a decade after his selftitled debut catapulted him to stardom, Dennen was once again attracted to how he made his earliest recordings. "My whole approach was that I wanted to write and sing the songs from the same place that I wrote the first record, which was a place of trying to discover who I am," he says. That marked a detour from his most recent releases. With those he felt like he was exercising his craftsmanship - "being a songwriter for the sake of being a songwriter," as he puts it. "I really wanted this new album to come across as a whole piece," Dennen says. "I consider it to be a batch of songs that all live together and complement each other."Which brings us back to the album title. Please."What was I asking for with this album" Dennen says. "I wanted to be a good person and feel good about myself again, but in a way that I knew it was OK to be sad. That's part of life, the ups and downs. But with these songs, I want to make people feel good about themselves and about life through the good and bad."

Book limo for Bob Schneider

Rams Head on Stage
33 West Street, Annapolis, MD, 21401

with Clarence Bucaro
Austin-based singer/songwriter/creative force of nature Bob Schneider has a guy in his band, Oliver Steck, who plays keyboards, accordion, trumpet and assorted whistles and horns. Also, Schneider notes, Oliver also does a lot of dancing. He doesnt necessarily get paid for the dancing. He does it because he cant not.Apparently, the same could be said of Schneider in terms of artistic endeavors in general. He cant not be creating something.Sometimes its writing songs he has written some 2,000 songs in the past 16 years sometimes its creating videos to accompany some of those songs and sometimes its making gallery-ready art, including paintings and collages. He also has played a wedding singer in an indie film, written two books and penned a rock opera that has a title that cant be printed in a family newspaper. Some of his musical mates even wonder when or whether he ever sleeps.I love making things, so thats what I spend a lot of my time doing, says Schneider I do have periods where I feel like Ill never create anything thats any good ever again. The good news is, it doesnt stop me from creating things, and eventually that feeling will pass and I can look over the stuff that Ive made and figure out which of it is better than the other stuff. Because I like to do it so much, Ill end up with quite a bit of it at the end of the year.Schneider has been a recording artist for 25 years, putting out his first record (Party Till Youre Dead) in 1991 as frontman for Joe Rockhead, a funk-rock combo in the vein of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. That band was followed by his best-known group, Ugly Americans, which toured with the Dave Matthews Band and Big Head Todd and the Monsters. Ugly Americans was a kind of alt-rock supergroup, with former members of Cracker, Poi Dog Pondering and Mojo Nixons band.Schneider also fronted a full-on funk ensemble that played around Austin in the late 1990s called The Scabs, at the same time he was establishing himself as a solo artist. His first solo project, Songs Sung and Played on Guitar at the Same Time, came out in 1998, and hes gone on to record an almost inconceivably diverse and eclectic array of songs since then, with his work making it onto the soundtracks of seven major motion pictures (and one indie film). All told, Schneider has been the singer and main songwriter on nearly 30 studio albums, and he has been named Musician of the Year six times at the Austin Music Awards. Considering the renowned strength of the music scene in Austin, thats saying something. His artistry coupled with his movie-star looks and boyish charm makes it a wonder hes not a household name around the rest of the country the way he is in Austin. His prodigious musical output is a result of a songwriting challenge group he started 16 years ago while touring. At first, the challenge was to write one song a day, and the people doing the writing were on the tour bus with him. Theyd come up with a title each morning and at the end of the day play the songs they came up with for each other. The pace of the songwriting challenge has eased up substantially since its beginnings, going to one song a week, but the scope of the participation in the group has widened to include a lot of widely known musicians.Weve had lots of famous folks in the game from time to time, but they usually dont last very long, Schneider says. The exception would be Jason Mraz, who has been in the game on and off for six or seven years and is one of the most consistent songwriters in the group. Very talented and will always turn a song in. At the end of the day, though, I really only have the group as a motivation to get me to write a song each week. Otherwise, a month might go by without writing anything and that would be a shame. The past few years, Schneider has grouped the songs hes written in a year under an album title, just to kind of keep track of when they were written. Titles for recent years have included Heres the Deal, The Ever Increasing Need to Succeed, Into the Great Unknown and Mental Problems. This years theme (and the name of his current concert tour) is The Practical Guide to Everything.Schneider has a fantastic website where fans can listen to all of the songs from the three five-song King Kong Suite EPs he released last year, with humorous commentary from Schneider himself between songs. The website also has the 10 videos he created for King Kong songs using public-domain found footage, including the menacing Black Mountain video that culls scenes from Francis Ford Coppolas directorial debut. The website also offers a chance to stream his regular Monday evening shows at Austins Saxon Pub.The Saxon Pub shows are unique in the fact that I play a lot of material there that I dont play anywhere else, Schneider explains. New stuff that I wrote that week or in the last few weeks. Really old material that we havent played in a while. I hardly play any of the stuff that youll hear on the road, which is a mix of the best of everything. The best new material alongside the best of my last 20 years of writing songs. He has an almost Dylanesque reputation for keeping things fresh, with shows so different from one another that for years he [has] recorded every show and[sold] copies for people to purchase right after the show.I play a lot of cities twice a year, and I like the fact that a lot of my fans will come see me play every time I come to town, knowing that Ill be playing material theyve never seen me perform and might not ever perform again, Schneider says. I dont have any of the banter planned either, so that stuff is usually unique to that night as well. It keeps things fresh for me and allows me to play crowd favorites that Ive been playing for years, but still makes the whole thing feel new overall for me and hopefully for the audience.Adapted from "Bob Schneider surfs an ocean of creative juices" written by Randy Erickson and published in the LaCrosse Tribune, April 14, 2016

Book limousine for Shabazz Palaces

Club Dada
2720 Elm Street, Dallas, TX, 75226

with Porter Ray, J.T. Donaldson
speaking of air and darkness, Born on a Gangster Star came into the world in a big damn hurry, like nightfall on an island. You can see it happening, but then again its so gradual that the next thing you knowits dark. Imbued with the energy and ideas from all the creative embers floating in the atmosphere like fireflies, Shabazz Palaces recorded this entire album over the course of two weeks with Blood in Seattle. New gear and new equipment disintegrated comfort zones into dust and a new path appeared in the ashes. Herein the Palaceer continues the tale of Quazars, a sentient being from somewhere else, an observer sent here to Amurderca to chronicle and explore as a musical emissary. What he finds in our world is a cutthroat place, a landscape where someone like him could never quite feel comfortable amidst all the brutality and alternative facts and death masquerading as connectivity. Inspired by days on end spent in the waveswater and light, bothof Southern California, the work came to the Palaceer in a flash, like being picked up by something and carried. Always dribbling with his head up, he can see whats going on around him and react to it, rather than starting in a certain direction and hoping to achieve something upon arrival. Whats good?the kids ask. What does it even mean, and what does it even matter? Who is behind these choices? We are all of us sitting under a waterfall of all. this. shit. but its the excess that is casting us into ruts. The Palaceer stays away from the fleeting and the superficial nonessential. Stay away from your deviceyour phantom limband stay away from your imageyour phantom self; that is his decree. Considering the motions behind the things you like to consume artistically, rather than just the way something looks or sounds, and thinking in layers, and trying to be more considerate and not so self-orientedthis is his medicine for combat. Born on a Gangster Star flirts with a pop sensibility, but through the prism of Shabazz Palacess fire and fury. For the Palaceer, that sense is all about how the groove is moving, and the supernatural telepathy that occurs amongst his cohort. Appearing here, in body or in spirit, are Julian Casablancas, Thundercat, Darrius Willrich, Gamble and Huff, Loud Eyes Lou, Thaddillac, Ahmir, Jon Kirby, Sunny Levine, and Blood. The story belongs to Quazarz, but the air and darkness belong to us. And so we shine a light on the fake.

Book limo for Smash Mouth

The Independent
628 Divisadero Street, San Francisco, CA, 94117

with The Deadlies, Alec Lee
In 2017, venerable multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated band Smash Mouth will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut, smash-hit album Fush Yu Mang. Released on July 8, 1997, FYM was a shocking -- and industry-changing -- success. Out of nowhere, the single Walkin On The Sun was an immediate international sensation. (Quickly shooting to #1 on the Billboard charts, and eventually boosting FYM sales to over 3 million copies in the U.S. alone.) In the two decades since, Smash Mouth has not slowed down. In fact, they are as vital and vibrant as ever.In celebration of this milestone year, Smash Mouth will release a just-completed acoustic version of FYM in its entirety (along with a mini-book recalling its making). 2017 will also see the band releasing a new album of all-original material. And you will be hearing a whole lot of Smash Mouth on your TV screen as the bands name is prominently featured in a Geico campaign called Decorative Plates. 2017 is already shaping up to be a banner year for the veteran San Jose rockers.May 2016 saw the release of Playlist: The Very Best of Smash Mouth. As part of Sony s recent Playlist CD series, the album is a composite of twelve Smash Mouth favorites chosen from live recordings of two late-2014 concerts (one in Rapid City, South Dakota...the other in Manilla, The Philippines). This CD is a must-have for even the most casual Smash Mouth fan, as each track literally explodes with live energy. Were a totally different band live, enthused Smash Mouth lead singer Steve Harwell. People are constantly telling me how much more powerful our songs are live compared to the studio versions."A look back at Smash Mouths formative years shows us a band determined to make an impact from the get-go. Formed in 1994, the band immediately began recording demos and showcasing in both San Jose and Hollywood, CA. In June of 1997, Smash Mouth signed to Interscope Records when label brass caught wind of an unknown (and unsigned) band being ADDED to highly influential LA radio station KROQs playlist after only one spin (!) of their song Walkin On The Sun.Smash Mouths major-label debut Fush Yu Mang goes more than DOUBLE- PLATINUM and sets the table for what most consider their masterpiece, 1999s brilliant follow-up album Astrolounge. No sophomore slump for these guys... Boasting three top- ten hits (All-Star, Then The Morning Comes, and Cant Get Enough Of You Baby), sales for Astrolounge nearly doubled those for their debut, approaching QUADRUPLE PLATINUM status.Smash Mouths third, eponymous Interscope release features the ecstatic first single Pacific Coast Party and the smash hit Im a Believer. Around this time, Smash Mouth crosses over into the film world by providing the musical heart of the soundtrack for Shrek, and even making a cameo appearance in the movie Rat Race. In recent years, Smash Mouth has focused on entertaining troops in such places as Japan, Guam, Guantanamo Bay, Afghanistan, and Iraq.2016 solidified an exciting new line-up for the veteran Bay Area rockers. Smash Mouth founding members Steve Harwell and Paul DeLisle (along with long-time keyboardist Michael Klooster) welcomed the return of world-class drummer Randy Cooke (with the band from 2010-2013) as well as introducing new guitarist Sam Eigen. When Smash Mouth went looking for a new guitar player earlier this year, they didnt have to look far. He was right in their own backyard. A long-time friend of both Steve and Paul, virtuoso string-bender Eigen (who has played with Alanis Morrisette, Janet Jackson, and John Fogerty, among others) is generally considered the best rock guitar player in San Jose. Says Delisle; When word got out around town that Sam had joined Smash Mouth, the general response was, Its about f***ing time! Eigen can also be heard playing guitar on several of Harwells solo recordings over the years. This new Smash Mouth line-up is pure fire-power, proclaims band manager Robert Hayes.Youre simply going to have to see this to believe it!

Produced by Teddy Thompson, their first and highly anticipated album together is an extraordinary debut of the pair’s transcendent musical bond.

Not Dark Yet was recorded in Los Angeles in the summer of 2016. The album provides a potent look at the sisters’ individual and collective artistry through eclectic song choices from writers ranging from the Louvin Brothers, Nick Cave, Kurt Cobain, and back to Jessie Colter. Shelby and Allison wrap their arms around the past, plant their feet in the present, and nod toward what’s around the bend with a co-written “Is It Too Much,” to close out the ten-song set.

Book limo for MARTY FRIEDMAN

The Rebel Lounge
2303 E. Indian School Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85016

with SCALE THE SUMMIT, THE FINE CONSTANT
At the end of the 20th Century, few guitar virtuosi were as respected and revered as MARTY FRIEDMAN. After first rising to prominence alongside fellow six-string whiz Jason Becker in the influential band Cacophony and via his well-received solo debut "Dragon's Kiss," FRIEDMAN joined Megadeth, with whom he soon wrote and recorded the thrash landmark "Rust In Peace." His 10-year tenure with the iconic group -- during which they sold more than 10 million albums worldwide and earned multiple Grammy nominations -- saw the band's dream lineup reach its greatest heights, and FRIEDMAN's unique sonic contributions became heavy metal DNA that to this day continues to inspire new generations of metal fans. On paper, it seemed as if FRIEDMAN was living the dream as a well-respected player in a multi-platinum act, but after a decade of cryptic, risky countdowns, the Washington, D.C.-native found himself anxious to explore new challenges. Soon after the release of 1999's "Risk," FRIEDMAN announced his departure from Megadeth and -- at least to many American fans -- vanished. A fanatical devotee of current Japanese music and pop culture, he rather suddenly moved to Tokyo, where continued to record and release albums that further solidified his guitar hero reputation overseas. Meanwhile, his absence from America seemed to be a catalyst to the legend and influence of his previous catalog growing greater with each passing year. In Japan, FRIEDMAN became an enigma of sorts: Armed with a fluency in the Japanese language, he left a platinum-selling American band to start from nearly zero to pursue his longtime dream of making his mark on the Japanese domestic music world. That mission was accomplished far beyond his wildest expectations, as FRIEDMAN has since performed at the largest venues in Asia, including three shows at the Tokyo Dome and five at Budokan. In addition, he played on and wrote several Japanese Top 10 hits, including a #1 single in 2011 and a #3 single in 2012. At the same time, FRIEDMAN also became a popular Japanese television personality who not only hosted several programs, but was even featured in several long-running national ad campaigns. He estimates he has made well over 600 network TV appearances in Japan, including three televised sold-out solo performances with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2012, Prosthetic Records -- a U.S.-based independent label that introduced the world to Lamb of God, Animals As Leaders and All That Remains, among others -- approached FRIEDMAN about giving proper American releases to four of his Japanese studio albums and reissuing another that had become unavailable Stateside. Those conversations led to discussions about making a new record that would see FRIEDMAN remind the world outside of Japan of his phenomenal talents and why he's considered the greatest lead guitarist in thrash metal history. That wasn't enough for FRIEDMAN, though. "I wanted to create a new landmark to which my future music will be compared," he says. "That idea of just going completely balls-out -- knowing what the full potential of my music and my playing could possibly be, and actually making it a reality -- was what drove me through the whole process." The result: "Inferno," FRIEDMAN's first album of original material in four years and his first in more than a decade to be released worldwide simultaneously. Recorded in Los Angeles with engineer Chris Rakestraw (Children of Bodom, Danzig) and mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth), the album features what FRIEDMAN told Guitar World is "the most intense writing and playing I can do," with the goal of "go(ing) completely ape-shit, in the most 'Marty' way possible." "I'm extremely proud of the work I've done with Cacophony and Megadeth, but I was never interested in looking back or stopping there," FRIEDMAN says. "'Inferno' is the album that fans of my work with those two bands have always wanted me to make. I've finally made it, and completely on my own maniacal terms." Notably, "Inferno" includes several collaborations with players influenced by FRIEDMAN, including Alexi Laiho (Children of Bodom), Revocation guitar whiz David Davidson, the flamenco/metal acoustic duo Rodrigo y Gabriela and acclaimed rocker Danko Jones. In addition, the album features FRIEDMAN's first songwriting collaboration with Jason Becker since the pair played together in Cacophony. Ultimately, though, it's arguably the most compelling chapter yet in FRIEDMAN's improbable international journey -- one for which he's excited to have fans in all countries along for the ride. Upon its release, "Inferno" became FRIEDMAN's first-ever solo record to crack the Billboard Top 200, while readers of Guitar World magazine voted it "best shred album" of 2014. Major features from Rolling Stone and Billboard were also firsts for Marty as the US mainstream picked up on "Inferno" and Marty`s unique story of leaving a multi-platinum band only to find greater success in another country and another culture. His story spawned both a documentary and a biography that are currently in production. To support the release of "Inferno", FRIEDMAN has toured extensively internationally alongside the likes of Arch Enemy, Kreator, Shining and Gus G in addition to performing at major international events such as Loud Park (Japan) and Guitarfest (Chile). Earlier this year, he also embarked a 20-date Brazilian clinic tour, which Rolling Stone Brazil called "the most extensive and ambitious guitar seminar tour in South America's history." This fall, FRIEDMAN will embark on the eagerly anticipated North America tour for "Inferno".

Book limo for Summer Of Love Experience featuring San Francisco Airship - Celebrating Jefferson Airplane @ GAMH w/ Quicksilver Gold - celebrating Quicksilver Messenger Service

Great American Music Hall
859 O'Farrell St, San Francisco, CA, 94109

Door 8 / Show 9 2017 marks the 50th Anniversary of The Human Be-In, Monterey Pop Festival and The Summer of Love.  It was also the beginning of a never ending focus the world has placed on the San Francisco Bay Area, as a mecca of revolutionary thinking and living.  At the heart of the culture in 1967 was music, which became known as The San Francisco Sound.  One of the most influential bands that quickly gained international acclaim in that era was Jefferson Airplane.  San Francisco Airship is a Tribute to Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Jefferson Airplane.  These stellar musicians respectfully recreate the feeling of that iconic band. Their live performance sounds exactly like The Airplane 1965-1970! Members have performed with Jefferson Starship, Blue Cheer, Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Tubes, Big Brother & The Holding Company, New Riders Of The Purple Sage, and more. San Francisco Airship brings that wonderful Summer Of Love feeling back to life with hits like “White Rabbit,” “Somebody To Love,” “Wooden Ships,” “Volunteers” and many  more. The Airship tastefully celebrates the music of one of the great bands of our time. Quicksilver Gold plays tribute to the legendary San Francisco '60s rock icons Quicksilver Messenger Service. This outstanding band, fronted by the late QMS vocalist Dino Valenti’s son Joli, recalls the heyday of The Summer of Love. Joli belts out a medley of classic tunes, sounding much like his dad on the hit “Fresh Air,” and the '60s anthem his father wrote “Get Together.” Joining Joli is guitar wizard Greg Douglass. After a run with the Steve Miller Band (where he penned the hit “Jungle Love”), Greg has been a member of The Greg Kihn Band, Link Wray, Van Morrison, and Hot Tuna.  He played guitar alongside the late original Quicksilver Messenger Service guitarist John Cipollina and QMS drummer Greg Elmore in Terry & The Pirates and Problem Child. Gail Muldrow is a veteran guitar player whose roots stretch back to her recording with Sly & The Family Stone when she was 17. She has also toured and recorded with Graham Central Station, Otis Redding, Prince, Chaka Kahn, and The JGB Band. Mario Cipollina, bass player extraordinaire, is the brother of the late Quicksilver Messenger Service guitar player John Cipollina. Mario is best known as a member of Huey Lewis & The News during their glory years. Greg Anton was the co-founder and drummer, for the band Zero, which performed over 1300 concerts and recorded eight albums since the mid 1980s. He currently keeps the beat for Melvin Seals and Stu Allen in the band The Rock Collection. Jose Najera is a most talented percussionist, who band The Bernal Beat is a Bay Area favorite. Last year Jose recorded “Snake Pit” with guitar master Harvey Mandel. Book limousine for Mark Lanegan Band

Wonder Ballroom
128 NE Russel Street, Portland, OR, 97212

with Duke Garwood, Lyenn
Heavenly Recordings are thrilled to announce the release of Gargoyle, the new album from Mark Lanegan Band on April 28th. The 10-track LP features guest appearances from long-time collaborators Josh Homme, Greg Dulli and Duke Garwood. Lead track Nocturne is currently premiering on Stereogum and can be heard HERE. Early in 2016, Mark was at home in LA, working on some ideas for what might turn into his next album when he got an email from a friend, an English musician named Rob Marshall, thanking Mark for contributing to a new project he was putting together, Humanist. The pair first met in 2008, when Marshall s former band Exit Calm supported Soulsavers, who Mark was singing with at the time. Now Rob was offering to write Mark some music to return the favor: I was like, Hey man, I m getting ready to make a record, if you ve got anything? Mark recalls. Three days later he sent me *10 things...!In the meantime, Mark had written Blue Blue Sea , a rippling mood piece that he thought might be a more fruitful direction for his new record. It s almost always how my records start, he explains. I let the first couple of songs tell me what the next couple should sound like, and it s really the same process when I m writing words. Whatever my first couple of lines are tell me what the next couple should be. I ve always built things like that, sort of like making a sculpture I guess.Within an hour, Mark had written words and vocal lines for two of the pieces Rob had cooked up at Mount Sion Studios in Kent and pinged through the virtual clouds to California. Rob's music fitted perfectly with the direction Mark had been pondering: in essence, a more expansive progression from the moody Krautrock-influenced electronica textures of his two previous albums, Blues Funeral and Phantom Radio . Eventually, Rob Marshall would co-write six of the songs on the new Mark Lanegan Band album. I was very thankful to become reacquainted with him, Mark deadpans. The remainder of the album was written, recorded and produced by Lanegan's longtime musical amanuensis Alain Johannes at his 11 AD base in West Hollywood. Everything was done and dusted within a month, unusually fast by Lanegan s recent standards. I definitely feel like I m a better songwriting than I was 15 years ago, he says. I don t know if I m just kidding myself or what, but it s definitely easier now to make something that is satisfying to me. Maybe I m just easier on myself these days, but it s definitely not as painful a process, and therefore I feel I m better at it now. But part of the way that I stay interested in making music is by collaborating with other people. When I see things through somebody else s perspective it s more exciting than if I m left to my own devices. While sharing roots with its two predecessors, on Gargoyle there s a significant up-shift in the swaggering powerlode of such keynote songs as Nocturne and Beehive, while the lyrics tonal palette is more varied. The album title comes from a lyric in Blue Blue Sea Gargoyle perched on gothic spire and was chosen for its hint of self-deprecation. I m most proud of the songs that are atypical to stuff that I ve done in the past says Mark. So I really like Old Swan, because it s an expression of positivity, which is completely anti-anything I ve done before! He laughs. Y know, I haven t played this record for too many people yet. I played it for Greg Dulli, who played on some of it, and he was like, Wow, I had to listen to it twice it sounds like he s having a good time... It's been a long journey travelled, not always easy, but in 2017, at the age of 52, Lanegan's got the look of permanence about him. Like that gargoyle on the gothic spire..

Book limousine for San Cisco

Doug Fir Restaurant & Lounge
830 E Burnside Street, Portland, OR, 97214

with Wooing
San Cisco's storm came in much like a front approaching the port in their home town of Fremantle; swift and eerily beautiful. Initially whipped up in the wake of high school graduation, the foursome of Jordi, Josh, Scarlett, and Nick soon found themselves unwittingly defining hipster culture with the video for their breakout hit "Awkward."Fast forward to 2015 where San Cisco enlisted the help of producer and long-term collaborator Steven Schram to deliver their sophomore album Gracetown which debuted at #2 on the ARIA charts. The album showcased a new sound for the band -- more worldly approach to life; exploring the tyranny of love, displacement, homesickness, heartache and heartbreak, via disco, funk, soul and hip hop undertones.Extensive touring to eager audiences around the world took up the majority of 2015 and early 2016, playing festivals at home and headline tours from Maitland to Mexico. The remainder of the year was some down time and pulling together new song ideas, earwormy hooks and catchy choruses. Now it's time to unleash the third sophomore album, The Water onto the world. A taste of the album was served up with single "SloMo" and a bonus B Side (aptly named "B Side") hitting the airwaves late last year. With more hits to come, The Water is as diverse in its sound as it is in subject matters. The Water will be available to purchase globally in late April 2017 from iTunes.

Book limousine for Puddle Of Mudd

Rams Head on Stage
33 West Street, Annapolis, MD, 21401

with Inherit The Earth
Puddle of Mudd is an American post-grunge band from Kansas City, Missouri. The band has sold over 7 million albums and has string of number one mainstream rock singles in the U.S. Their major label debut 'Come Clean' has sold over five million copies.Ask Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin about the writing and recording of the album 'Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate', and he responds with the same spirit of carefree wanderlust that defines his band: "It's all easy peezy, dude. No big deal at all."Not to him, maybe. Wes Scantlin is custom-made for the new millennium - a rockstar without the pretense and a frontman whose spontaneity propels his offstage personality as much as it does his onstage delivery. "Wes is constantly adjusting to the vibe in the room, throwing his flavor in there and constantly trying to make people laugh," explains bassist Doug Ardito. "He doesn't do the David Lee Roth thing, where he delivers the same lines every night. He's completely off-the-cuff."On 'Volume 4', Scantlin does deliver the same savvy lyrics that fans have come to expect since the band's multi-platinum debut, 'Come Clean', weaving subtle innuendo and not-so-subtle lyrical wordplay around vocal hooks so thick, they even seem to make life's more sour realities easier to swallow. Case in point, 'Psycho', the smash single from the band's 2007 release 'Famous' that rationalizes a relationship with, "maybe I'm the one who is a schizophrenic psycho."'Famous', like both albums before it, was certified gold after selling more than 500,000 copies in America alone. Propelled by 'Psycho', the album cemented Puddle of Mudd's status as bona-fide hit makers, and earned them industry accolades, including Billboard's No. 1 Mainstream Rock Song of 2008 and No. 2 Rock Band of the Year, where they finished second only to the Foo Fighters. Keeping in that tradition, the new album goes down like the smoothest shot you'll ever take. No chaser required unless, like Scantlin and guitarist Paul Phillips, you opt for a cold, frosty one.'Volume 4' is a homecoming for Phillips, who left the band shortly into the recording process for 'Famous'. Despite the success of 'Psycho', something was missing, and when Phillips and Scantlin reconnected earlier this year, all of the prior tension had melted away and their chemistry was rediscovered.Early Years (1992-2000)Puddle of Mudd was formed September 13, 1991 by Wes Scantlin (vocals/guitar). According to Wes, the band name was inspired by practicing next to the Missouri River levy, which always inundated the band's practice space but never ruined their equipment because they were on the second floor. Their first album, 'Stuck', was released in 1994 on V&R Records. It spawned two radio singles.2001-NowIn September 2014, the band released the non-album single 'Piece of the Action'. In July 2015, the band announced that they were recording their sixth studio album.Wesley Reid Scantlin (vocals/guitar)Matt Fuller (lead guitar/backing vocals)Michael John Adams (bass/backing vocals)Dave Moreno (drums/backing vocals)

Book limo for Gaelic Storm

Durty Nellies
N Smith St, Palatine, IL, 60067

After nearly two decades and more than 3,000 live shows, Gaelic Storm the chart-topping, multi-national Celtic band is looking sharper than ever with their latest release, Matching Sweaters. The new album mixes traditional Irish music with modern influences, creating a sound that's as wide-ranging as the band's own audience. From bluegrass fans and country cowboys to Deadheads, rock & rollers and Celtic fanatics, Gaelic Storm has built one of the most diverse fan bases in modern music. Matching Sweaters helps explain the broad appeal. Rooted in the songwriting of founding members Patrick Murphy and Steve Twigger, the album moves from drinking songs ("Another Stupid Drinking Song") to energetic instrumentals ("The Narwhaling Cheesehead") to rootsy pop/rockers ("Whiskeyed Up and Womaned Out"), gluing everything together with the spark and spirit of a band that's spent close to 20 years on the road."We're a touring band," says percussionist Ryan Lacey, who joined the lineup in 2003. "That's how this band works.Matching Sweaters is one of the most complete albums we've done so far, because it taps into every facet of our live show."Those live shows date all the way back to the mid-1990s, when Gaelic Storm kicked off its career as a pub band in Santa Monica, California. By the end of the decade, the musicians had appeared in the blockbuster film "Titanic" (where they performed "Irish Party in Third Class") and laid the groundwork for a career that would eventually find them topping the Billboard World Chart five times, making appearances at mainstream music festivals such as Summerfest, Telluride and The Rock Boat Cruise, and regularly headlining the largest Irish Festivals across the country, all the while gaining a reputation as a genre-bending Irish band whose songs mix Celtic traditions with something new and unexpected. Now, with the band's 20th anniversary on the horizon, they're putting even more emphasis on those newer directions."We'll push the envelope, then reel it back in, then push it again," says Murphy. "There's a lot of variety here, and that's why we can play country festivals, bluegrass festivals and rock festivals, and still fit in perfectly with each one. We wanted Matching Sweaters to reflect that range, so people could buy the CD and hear everything we're able to do in concert."When it came time to write Matching Sweaters' 12 songs, Murphy and Twigger teamed up with longtime friend and co-writer Steve Wehmeyer. Together, the three found inspiration in everything from old Irish newspapers ("The Rustling Goat Gang," whose details were gleaned from an article about a vanishing goat herd from Waterford) to bits of conversation overheard in local pubs ("Paddy's Rubber Arm").In addition to writing new songs, the musicians have continued to play new markets every year, taking the chance to stretch their boundaries and widen their audience whenever possible. It helps keep them on their toes."Playing for a new crowd is great," says Twigger. "It takes you back to those early days, where you've got something to prove. We could just do Irish festivals, but why not play a crossover show where 90% of the audience doesn't know you, and you have to make them know you? That's what makes your band good."Matching Sweaters follows in that hard-working tradition, dishing up all the ingredients fans have come to expect from Gaelic Storm the drinking songs, sea shanties, furiously-strummed instrumentals and sing-along melodies while spiking the mix with newer flavors. Eat it up, but make sure to save some room! There's plenty more where this came from.

The electronic project VNV ("Victory Not Vengeance") Nation was conceived in London in 1990 by Ronan Harris, debuting in May of that year with the 12-inch "Body Pulse." "Strength of Youth" followed a few months later, and at the end of the year Harris relocated to Toronto, where VNV Nation opened for Nitzer Ebb on their Canadian tour. After moving back to Europe, Harris released only a handful of compilation tracks in the years to follow before signing with the German label Discordia in 1995 to issue the full-length Advance and Follow. Three years later, VNV Nation resurfaced on another German label, Off-Beat, an alliance which generated the LP Praise the Fallen as well as the EP Solitary. Empires, which was issued with another European distributor Dependent, and on Metropolis in the U.S., followed in the spring of 2000. Singles such as "Standing" and "Dark Angel" were club mainstays, boasting Ronan Harris' love for pulsating club rhythms and his developing seascapes of dark ambient waves. Book limousine for Five For Fighting

Aladdin Theater
3017 SE Milwaukie Ave., Portland, OR, 97202

with Marie Miller
Never has the phrase "he shoots, he scores" been more applicable than when mentioning rabid hockey fan and chart-topping singer/songwriter John Ondrasik. The Los Angeles native, who goes by Five for Fighting (a five-minute penalty for on-the-ice fist-a-cuffs), burst on the scene some 15 years ago with his Grammy Award-nominated hit "Superman (It's Not Easy)," and has been a mainstay on mainstream radio ever since. While he doesn't wear tights and fight crime as his breakthrough track "Superman" suggests, his songs could bring any maniacal villain to their knees (and tears) with his poignantly sharp songs that cut deeper than a Ginsu knife.Ondrasik signed his first deal in 1997 with "Message For Albert," but it was his follow-up "American Town" that really took flight for Fighting. The aforementioned "Superman (It's Not Easy)" went Platinum (as did the album), was #1 on Adult Top 40, #2 on Hot AC, and in the Top 40 Top 10. The song actually hit the airwaves, and reached #1 the same week his daughter Olivia was born. Not too shabby as Adam Sandler once said. Adding more fuel to the emotional fire, the mega-hit served as sort of an unofficial anthem following the 9.11 attacks on American soil. Naturally, he performed it at The Concert For New York City.In his career, Ondrasik has sold over 2.5 million albums including 2004's "Battle for Everything," which spawned the 2X platinum "100 Years," which continues to melt hearts, provide all ages with an instant case of nostalgia. Other hits have included "The Riddle," "World," "Chances" and "What If." His music has been featured in 350 films, TV shows and advertisements ranging from the "The Blind Side" to "Hawaii Five-O." He has also written tunes for everyone from Josh Groban to The Backstreet Boys.Yet, there's more to Ondrasik than the music and it's far more important to him and countless others. "Music is the great healer as well as being a unique vehicle in raising awareness and funds for important causes," he explains. Ondrasik has given away a million copies of a five-volume compilation album (featuring himself and other artists) he created for United States troops. He has also performed regularly for the USO.Additionally, www.whatkindofworlddoyouwant.com was created off of his song "World," in which fans uploaded videos showing their respective interpretations of a better world. That initiative raised more than $250,000 for five designated charities: Augie's Quest, Autism Speaks, Fisher House Foundation, Save the Children and Operation Homefront.Ondrasik is a featured speaker from Ted Talks to the Salk Institute. He's also presented at various private and corporate events. He's also graced The Kennedy Center stage, performed for world leaders and presidents, and contributed special performance for NASA to commemorate the conclusion of the Space Shuttle Mission. When not writing killer tunes, Ondrasik is putting pen to paper for his other passion: sports. The avid Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings fan has been a sports commentator for SI.com, the Kings, and a guest on everything from Jim Rome to ESPN SportsCenter, the latter of which he became the first "band" to appear and perform."I recognize the immature shallowness of the adult sports fan obsession, but I've always had it. Lakers as a kid, UCLA, Kings etc...Many folks use music as their escape, I imagine sports as mine. Writing is a kick as I've always had a fantasy to be a sports reporter/writer," he says gleefully. As he explores the possibility of a Broadway show featuring his tunes, he's currently on the road (not literally) performing songs as a quartet (Five for Fighting literally) and with symphonies around the country. "The symphony and quartet shows have been fantastic," he said. "I've had the honor of working with some world class arrangers in my career. To present the more ambitious songs, as well as the popular tunes, in this format has refueled my passion for performing."...And making new music. Ondrasik's "What If" hit the Hot AC charts and was chosen by Richard Branson (sorry, Sir Richard Branson) as the soundtrack for his non-profit Virgin Unite. And his most recent song "All for One" was penned for the 100th episode of Hawaii Five-O. Ondrasik is currently working on the follow-up to his sixth album, "Bookmarks."Looking ahead while looking back, the one-man Fighting army, said, "I have been blessed to have loving and supportive parents, an amazing wife and partner, and two great kids. Family is crucial to any career, keeps the ups and downs, down and up."

Radio Moscow came about a few years back in a Story City basement. The First version of Radio Moscow Began as a solo project by Parker called Garbage Composal. At this time the sound was very raunchy mid-sixties-ish garage rock heavily influenced by the hidden gems and bands on the nuggets comps, yet still sounding very much its own. Parker recorded one albums worth of the Garbage Composal Demos under the new name Radio Moscow. (you can hear those songs here!: www.myspace.com/radiomoscowtheearlydays Along with the new name came new bass player Serana Andersen. This line-up lasted for a few years without any drummer. Around this time the band started evolving and a whole new sound was created. Still garage-y but now channeled through the blues with experimental breakdowns, unpredictable tempo changes, crazy rave-ups and fuzzed out psychedelic guitar work. For shows parker would pre-record the drums on a 4-track and then blasts it through amplification. Serana and Parker moved to Colorado in the quest for a drummer and a new scene. Things started out very promising when Dan from The Black Keys called Parker up said he dug the demo that he gave him at a concert and was going to try to push it for us to get it on ALIVE/BOMP records. Parker returned by himself to Iowa to try to get the band up and going. Luke McDuff from Ames filled the vacant bass spot. Together they recorded the debut album for ALIVE/BOMP records with producer Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys. The Album was released Feb 27 2007. Luke had to go back to school so he continued looking for a solid line-up. After one tryout Zach Anderson jumped on as new bassist. With the help of a few drummer friends (keith rich, todd stevens, paul marrone, cory berry) Radio Moscow has been touring ever since. The trio plans to be hitting the road extra hard this year to promote the second Radio Moscow studio album "Brain Cycles"

joan Jett is an originator, an innovator, and a visionary. As the leader of the hard-rocking Blackhearts, with whom she has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she's had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics "Bad Reputation," "I Love Rock 'N' Roll," "I Hate Myself For Loving You," and "Crimson and Clover." She sits at the head of her own independent label, Blackheart Records. Jett has acted in movies and television, including 1987's Light Of Day, and in a Tony-nominated Broadway musical, The Rocky Horror Show. She has appeared on such acclaimed television shows as Oprah (the last season) and Law and Order.
As a producer, she has overseen albums by Bikini Kill, Circus Lupus, as well as the Germs' LA punk masterpiece, GI.
Her music has become a permanent force in mainstream culture. A version of "I Hate Myself for Loving You" has been NBC's Sunday Night Football, performed this past season by Carrie Underwood, and her music is heard in countless films and TV shows including Easy - A, Kick Ass, The Runaways, Shrek, Baby Mama, and many more.
Since co-founding the Runaways, the pioneering all-girl punk quintet, at age 15, Jett's determination and drive have kept her in the public eye. Jett was able to see her story told in The Runaways, the film based on (lead singer of The Runaways) Cherie Currie's book Neon Angel starring Kristen Stewart as Jett, and her fellow A-lister Dakota Fanning as Currie. Jett was close to the project: She served as an executive producer.
Jett and the Blackhearts released their latest record, 'Unvarnished,' in 2013 and continue touring the globe to throngs of adoring fans.
Joan Jett has spent her lifetime breaking barriers and challenging expectations - this is, after all, a woman who is both a spokesperson for PETA and a devoted supporter of the US Military. She's fought hard for all of her historic accomplishments, yet she remains humble and appreciative.
"I've had a blessed career," she says. "I consider myself so lucky to have been able to do things my own way."

Book limo for Eilen Jewell

Kennett Flash
102 Sycamore Alley, Kennett Square, PA, 19348

Eilen Jewell laughs when told her labels president called her a musicologist. But she confirms she and her husband and bandmate, drummer Jason Beek, have a passion for studying American music. We really love to uncover the past. Its almost like digging for buried treasure, she says. For me, thats where music is at. I like all kinds of music as long as theres the word early in front of it. For her new album, Down Hearted Blues, releasing Sept. 22, 2017 on Signature Sounds, she and Beek unearthed 12 vintage gems written or made famous by an array of artists both renowned and obscure, from Willie Dixon and Memphis Minnie to Charles Sheffield and Betty James. Then, like expert stonecutters, they chiseled them into exciting new shapes and forms, honoring history while breathing new life into each discovery.Known for what allmusic.com describes as a country-flavored and blues-infused version of contemporary folk (which also can include healthy doses of rockabilly and surf), Jewells discography includes several albums of original material and one of Loretta Lynn covers. Jewell has also recorded two albums with her eight-piece gospel-group side project the Sacred Shakers. But this latest effort, which she and Beek co-produced, with engineering by pianist/banjo player Steve Fulton and Pat Storey, is her first collection of blues despite the fact that she credits the genre for igniting her musical curiosity in the first place.Thats because, even though shes dreamed of recording a blues album since discovering Howlin Wolf as a Boise, Idaho, teen, Jewell had to convince herself she could and should.Ive always had this sense of self-doubt about it, she admits. Like, who am I to sing the blues? Im a white girl from Idaho. I dont know if I have a right to do that. But she also remembers an old friends advice: Everyone has the right to do what they love in this world, regardless of who they are and what background they come from. Finally, she tired of waging her internal battle and decided to let the do what you love side win. It was a wise choice particularly because shes hardly appropriating or imitating anyones style; on the contrary, Jewell makes each song her own, while paying homage to her beloved inspirations. It also should be noted that American blues music, like its country of origin, is a melting pot of influences, and that all music evolves from what came before and that, by recording these songs, shes helping to strengthen the legacy of those who created and popularized them. Some of them she heard while listening to her husbands Radio Boise show, Spoonful. The pair also cite John Funkes Backwoods, on Cambridges WMBR-FM, as a source of discovery. In fact, the couples mutual attraction to musical obscurities led directly to their relationship. A friend who knew of their common interest made the introduction, correctly guessing theyd hit it off. That happened in Boston, where Jewell lived for nine years after leaving Boise to attend college in Santa Fe, New Mexico, then migrating to Los Angeles and finally, to the East Coast. Jumping into Bostons roots-music scene, she began hunting for a guitarist. Beek pointed her to Jerry Miller, a bona-fide Boston legend known for his versatility. Theyve been playing together ever since; she chose some Down Hearted Blues tracks, such as Crazy Mixed Up World, a Dixon tune recorded by Little Walter, and Albert Washingtons Youre Gonna Miss Me, to showcase Miller. On the latter, his notes bend around her supple, dramatic minor-key vocals, which slide in after a punchy sax and bass intro. Jewell, who titled a previous album Queen of the Minor Key, says its scary, creepy tone fit right in with so many songs theyve done, it already felt like an old friend the first time she heard it. That horn, by the way, comes courtesy of Curtis Stigers, a fellow Boisean who had several soul hits before segueing into jazz. A fan who pumps her music through the PA before his own shows, he also sits in with her band when theyre both in town. (Jewell and Beek moved to Boise in 2012 to be closer to her family and start their own.)He played with us at a local festival and we loved what he did so much we asked him, very spur of the moment, to come to the studio and record with us. He literally dropped what he was doing and said, Ill be there in 15 minutes, she recalls, marveling about how he created a horn section with overdubs chartless, on songs hed never heard.Hes also on You Know My Love, another Dixon tune popularized by Otis Rush. Jewells torchy rendition emphasizes its spooky message: You think youre gonna get on with your life, but theres this thing between us that will never die; its always gonna come back and haunt you.Laughing, she says, I can definitely attest to that being a real thing in life.Other picks, such as Dixons Youll Be Mine, have a more personal connection. She came to it through Howlin Wolf, whom she found while rooting through her dads garage-stashed album collection. The minute she heard him, she says, I knew what I was supposed to be listening to.By then, she had absorbed the classics Hendrix, Janis Joplin, the Doors and noticed her favorite rockers had something in common: they were influenced by early blues artists. Down the rabbit hole she went, finding Bessie Smith, represented here via the Lovie Austin and Alberta Hunter-penned title tune Smith turned into a hit, then Memphis Minnie (Nothing in Rambling) and Big Maybelle Smith (Don't Leave Poor Me).Im always drawn toward anything that women accomplish in the musical world, especially of previous eras, Jewell says. It was amazing that women could do anything back then, when it was so frowned upon.Jewell, who also plays guitar and Hammond organ on these tracks, claims shed be happy singing nothing but Big Maybelle songs if they werent such a heavy vocal workout. On the propulsive Dont Leave Poor Me she practically dares her voice to leap up high and swoop down low before stepping aside for the pulsating guitar-and-percussion bridge. Her easy glide from note to note on the back-porch picker Nothing in Rambling contrasts with that style and with lyrics expressing the difficulties of life on the road (a life that now includes daughter Mavis, already a world traveler at age 3) further highlighting the smooth/raw dichotomy inherent not only to this album, but the genre itself. While Jewell doesnt exhibit whiskey-scratched vocal tendencies, she can certainly make a gutbucket lose some splinters or beguile with silky sexiness. Its as if shes doing a one-woman play, slipping into a different persona with each song a feat that becomes even more impressive when she reveals these tracks were recorded in only two days, live, and that Miller and upright bass player Shawn Supra hadnt even heard some of them beforehand. Thats how spontaneous it actually was. They just happened to book some studio time during a free day in Boise, and had so much fun playing these songs they decided to make an album. It really felt serendipitous, like what was supposed to happen was happening, Jewell says. I finally gave myself permission to do what I wanted to do, and the universe supported me.

Book limousine for The Brian Jonestown Massacre

Union Transfer
1026 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia, PA, 19123

Formed: 1990 in San Francisco, CA Named in tribute to the legendary Rolling Stones guitarist and his influence in introducing Eastern culture and music into the world of Western rock & roll, the Brian Jonestown Massacre formed in San Francisco, CA, in 1990. Some 40 different members passed through the group's ranks over the next half-decade, but their focal point always remained singer/guitarist Anton Newcombe, who along with bassist Matt Hollywood, guitarist Dean Taylor, organist Mara Regal, accordionist Dawn Thomas, drummer Brian Glaze, and "Spokesperson for the Revolution" Joel Gion, recorded the Massacre's 1995 shoegazer-influenced debut LP, 'Methodrone.' A collection of early recordings, 'Spacegirl and Other Favorites,' followed on the band's own Tangible label in early 1996, and was the first of four Brian Jonestown Massacre LPs to appear that year. Next up was the brilliant, 'Their Satanic Majesties' Second Request,' a full-blown homage to the Stones' glorious psychedelic-era excesses. Recorded live in the studio, the grittier 'Take It from the Man!' found the band exploring even broader territory. Finally, the year ended with the release of 'Thank God for Mental Illness,' a showcase for strong country and blues leanings. In 1997, the BJM -- now consisting of Newcombe, Hollywood, Gion, Taylor, Peter Hayes and drummer Brad Artley -- resurfaced with 'Give It Back!' After signing to TVT, they released 'Strung Out in Heaven' the following year, but the band's own eccentricities kept them from staying on the label. After a few scattered EPs, they resurfaced in 2001 with 'Bravery, Repetition and Noise,' distributed by Bomp. 'And This Is Our Music' followed in 2003. Despite a continued lack of major distribution, the Brian Jonestown Massacre earned the largest profile of their career in 2004, when the band became the unlikely focus of an award-winning documentary, 'DIG!,' which charted the trials of Newcombe and those of his rival, Courtney Taylor, leader of the Dandy Warhols. The 'We Are the Radio' EP followed in August 2005. Three years later, Anton Newcombe reinvented the band as he had obtained all the releases of his past albums & formed his own label, 'a' Recordings. His first new album on this label was 'My Bloody Underground,' featuring yet another lineup and a hint of shoegaze and noise pop. 'Who Killed Sgt Pepper?' followed shortly after, being made available in streaming format at the end of 2009 and receiving an official release on February 27th, 2010. The band have toured throughout the years Australasia , Japan , North America & Europe. In 2010 they finished a 16-week world tour which ended in June 2010.In late 2010, Anton Newcombe found premises for a studio in Berlin & proceeded to work on building the studio. The band released a 2CD compilation of their single releases in August 2011, which has been released worldwide. In June 2011, Anton Newcombe was awarded the ASCAP (American Society Of Composers, Authors & Publishers) Film & Television Award for writing the theme tune to "Boardwalk Empire" (an HBO TV Series produced by Martin Scorsese). In 2012, the band released their 13th full length album 'Aufheben' with tours in Australia, the USA & Europe. 2014 meant touring this time with shows on the West Coast of the USA then a 3-month tour of Europe and the UK. This tour coincided with the release of 'Revelation,' the band's 13th album. Following shortly thereafter Newcombe wrote, produced and recorded the album 'Musique de Film Imagine,' inspired in many ways by the films of Serge Gainsborough, to critical acclaim in Europe, The UK and the US of A. In November 2015 the BJM once more toured Australia with the show in Melbourne being the closing show of The Melbourne Music Week at The Melbourne Town Hall with participating musicians Deborrah "Moogy" Morgan, vocals on two tracks from 'Musicque du Film Imagine,' along with Matt Sigley from The Lovetones on Keys and vocals and last but not least Ollie McGill from Cat Empire playing the 100 pipe grand organ. In addition the band performed 4 shows in New Zealand. Newcombe has recently finished the soundtrack for the Phillip John-directed feature length movie 'Moon Dogs,' set in the islands off Scotland. May 2016 has the band playing a month of shows in the US of A and Canada, and returning to Europe in the summer for a series of concerts. The current band consists of Anton Newcombe, Joel Gion, Enrique Maymi, Rob Campanella, Dan Allaire, Collin Hegna and Ryan Van Kreidt.

Book limo for Shabazz Palaces

Union Transfer
1026 Spring Garden St., Philadelphia, PA, 19123

with Porter Ray
speaking of air and darkness,Born on a Gangster Starcame into the world in a big damn hurry, like nightfall on an island. You can see it happening, but then again its so gradual that the next thing you knowits dark.Imbued with the energy and ideas from all the creative embers floating in the atmosphere like fireflies, Shabazz Palaces recorded this entire album over the course of two weeks with Blood in Seattle. New gear and new equipment disintegrated comfort zones into dust and a new path appeared in the ashes.Herein the Palaceer continues the tale of Quazars, a sentient being from somewhere else, an observer sent here to Amurderca to chronicle and explore as a musical emissary. What he finds in our world is a cutthroat place, a landscape where someone like him could never quite feel comfortable amidst all the brutality and alternative facts and death masquerading as connectivity.Inspired by days on end spent in the waveswater and light, bothof Southern California, the work came to the Palaceer in a flash, like being picked up by something and carried. Always dribbling with his head up, he can see whats going on around him and react to it, rather than starting in a certain direction and hoping to achieve something upon arrival.Whats good?the kids ask. What does it even mean, and what does it even matter? Who is behind these choices? We are all of us sitting under a waterfall ofall. this. shit.but its the excess that is casting us into ruts. The Palaceer stays away from the fleeting and the superficial nonessential. Stay away from your deviceyour phantom limband stay away from your imageyour phantom self; that is his decree. Considering the motions behind the things you like to consume artistically, rather than just the way something looks or sounds, and thinking in layers, and trying to be more considerate and not so self-orientedthis is his medicine for combat.Born on a Gangster Starflirts with a pop sensibility, but through the prism of Shabazz Palacess fire and fury. The story belongs to Quazarz, but the air and darkness belong to us.And so we shine a light on the fake.

Judy Collins has thrilled audiences worldwide with her unique blend of interpretative folksongs and contemporary themes. Her impressive career has spanned more than 50 years. At 13, Judy Collins made her public debut performing Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos but it was the music of such artists as Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, as well as the traditional songs of the folk revival, that sparked Judy's love of lyrics. She soon moved away from the classical piano and began her lifelong love with the guitar.Judy has continued an impressive musical career with an extensive catalog from every decade throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and up to the present. She has also authored several books, including the inspirational memoir entitled Sanity & Grace. She is co-director, with Jill Godmillow, of an Academy Award nominated film about Antonia Brico, the first woman to conduct major symphonies around the worldand Judy's classical piano teacher when she was young. In 1999, Judy founded her own record label, Wildflower Records, a grass roots artist driven label committed to nurturing fresh talent. Judy Collins, now 75, is still writing, performing, and nurturing fresh talent. She plays 80 to100 dates a year around the country.
