Book limo for Tycho

An epoch is defined as an extended period of time typically characterized by a distinctive development or by a memorable series of events, and Scott Hansen, leader of the band Tycho, has named their new album Epoch (Ghostly International) with that in mind. The last installment in a trilogy, Epoch is the culmination of more than a decades work that has seen the band evolving and maturing through two sublime releases Dive (2011) and Awake (2014), and developing from featuring Hansen as a delicate solo performer into the iconic frontman of a powerful multi-layered live band performing on the worlds largest stages.Dive was where the whole thing crystallized, said Hansen. I found that crossover space between what I was doing before, which was more IDM electronic stuff, and the rock music that reflected more of what I was listening to and not necessarily what I was making. Awake was a prototype of pushing it as far into the rock realm as I was comfortable with. Epoch is basically coming full circle. All the lessons of Dive and Awake were applied and then expanded upon.Epoch leverages the sonic aesthetic of Dives down-tempo vintage-style synthesizers and beautiful melodies while drawing on the kinetic energy of Awakes progressive composition and organic instrumentation. I felt like I explored a lot of open-ended unbridled, optimistic spaces with the other records. I dont know if its a reflection of my life, but it seemed like thats what just came out at the time. For the new record, the themes felt a bit darker as he explored new musical territory. My threshold for darkness is much lower. Things that seem dark to me seem happy and light to other people. I think its the darker sounds themselves. The timbres are a bit more aggressive.Hansen initially attempted a more traditional recording process at Panoramic Studios in Stinson Beach, CA, but ultimately opted to do the majority of the recording in his home studio in Berkeley following a temporary relocation from his home in San Francisco.Ive been in the same San Francisco house the last 11 years. I made the last two records in the exact same room. I figured it was time for a change. There were a few other factors as well. I wanted to get some more space, be relaxed, and not be living in the middle of a crazy city. I wanted to have a more relaxed environment where noise or people didnt bother me. Mostly just for the isolation.Once complete, it was important to Hansen to release Epoch as a surprise album. Ive never been fond of handing in an album then waiting 4 months for it to be released, he said. I wanted to be more connected to the people consuming the music. There is a kind of visceral fulfillment you get from sharing something that youve just created with other people. Thats a very satisfying feeling as an artist. All art is in some way shaped by the current state of the world around the person creating it so theres a element of zeitgeist built into any album. We just finished mastering the album so it will be a month old when people hear it. Im hoping people get a sense that this music is directly connected to the time they are experiencing it in.Epoch was arranged alongside Zac Brown, a long time collaborator and partner in the Tycho project. Brown contributed bass and guitar parts to the songwriting process, while Rory OConnor played drums. OConnor was brought in during the Dive tour cycle. Hansen has known Brown since their Sacramento upbringing. At the end of Dive is when we started to work together on a couple songs. I thought there should be more guitar. Zac played on a couple songs like on Ascension. He played some bass and guitar on Hours. I brought him on to play parts in the shows. We did Awake together. We took the same approach with this record.Hansen sees Epoch as a multi-dimensional artistic vision at the confluence of his graphic design work via ISO50 and music with Tycho. The graphic presentation of the album artwork is as important as the music itself. The keystone is the central image of Epoch and the colour scheme red and black. This is a stark contrast to the almost rainbow palette of Awake.

Book limo for Land of Talk

Doug Fir Restaurant & Lounge
830 E Burnside Street, Portland, OR, 97214

with Half Waif
"I don't want to waste it this time"If anyone has earned the right to sing those words, it's Elizabeth Powell. Since forming Land of Talk in 2006, the one certainty in her life has been uncertainty, as her band has gone from being one of Montreal's most brash, buzzy indie rock acts to one of its most elusive and enigmatic. After recording Land of Talk's debut EP, Applause Cheer Boo Hiss, Elizabeth lost her drummer (the first in what would become a semi-regular pattern of line-up changes). After releasing Land of Talk's first full-length record, Some Are Lakes, in 2008, she lost her voice. And after the 2010 follow-up, Cloak and Cipher, she lost her will.Elizabeth knew she needed a break from the album/tour/album/tour cycle after the Cloak and Cipher campaign ended-she just didn't plan on it becoming a full-blown hiatus. "I was just tired and felt a little disenchanted," she says. "I think that's very common-to feel industry-weary. I just couldn't do it. The only thing that was keeping me there was the music, and I think the music had become a footnote of the whole story. I wanted to get back to the music."In 2011, Powell left Montreal behind and retreated to her grandparents' cottage near Lake Couchiching, Ontario "to do the Glenn Gould thing and hunker down and write some songs." But all her work was lost when her laptop irreparably crashed, taking all her GarageBand demos down with it. With Land of Talk, Elizabeth had survived multiple personnel changes and a vocal polyp that nearly robbed her of her ability to sing. But the combination of post-tour fatigue and the demoralizing loss of her new material brought her to a dead stop. "After that," she says, "I just didn't want to think about music at all. I kind of retired. It was a throw the baby out with the bathwater scenario."After settling back into her hometown of Orillia, Ontario, Elizabeth was dealt an even more devastating blow on New Year's Day 2013: her father suffered a stroke, and all of Elizabeth's energies went toward caring for him. But in her darkest hour, the elder Powell provided Elizabeth with a guiding light. "I was visiting him in the hospital," she recalls, "and he just said, 'Come on, can you just do this now? Can you just get back to music?'"Elizabeth went home and wrote "This Time," the song that ultimately served as the spark-and thematic focus-for a new Land of Talk record. It's the sound of Elizabeth rediscovering her musical muse, and unleashing the sort of do-or-die ardour that only comes when a life-altering event forces you to stare mortality in the face. "That's when it became more urgent and undeniable," Elizabeth says. "I just wanted to repeat those lyrics over and over again, because that's all I really had to say. At that point, music became a self-help thing, a coping mechanism-because music is how I understand myself and the world."And just as Elizabeth was reconnecting with her passion for songwriting, she serendipitously reunited with a former foil: original Land of Talk drummer Bucky Wheaton, who emailed her out of the blue after falling out of contact for several years. Before long, the two were woodshedding new songs in Toronto at Broken Social Scene/Do Make Say Think bassist Charles Spearin's home jam space, and then booking time at Montreal's Breakglass Studios with the Besnard Lakes' Jace Lacek, who recorded the first Land of Talk EP (and, for this new record, shared bass duties with wife/bandmate Olga "Oggie" Goreas). "Without sounding too gushy, it's been a beautiful reunion," Elizabeth says. "This album became my homecoming to Montreal."But if Land of Talk's new album, Life After Youth, recreates the same conditions and recruits much of the same personnel that produced Land of Talk's scrappy debut EP, the end result is dramatically different than anything the band has attempted before. While caring for her father, Elizabeth fell under the spell of classical, ambient, and Japanese tonkori music, whose meditative quality aided his recovery. Immersing herself in those sounds would change her entire approach to music-making; she started writing songs without her trusty guitar, instead building tracks up from synth beds and programmed loops. "Because I was feeling so stripped down and having powerful realizations and emotions about life, I wanted to get away from guitar into more hypnotic synth sounds," she says. "I wanted things to be more lulling and comforting."Life After Youth's centerpiece track, "Inner Lover," presents the most radical results of those experiments. It's an audio Rorschach test of a song: key in on the incessant synth pulse underpinning Elizabeth's pleading vocal ("take care of me!") and the track assumes an ominous intensity. But when you surrender to the relaxed drum counter-rhythm and subliminal harmonies, "Inner Lover" projects a graceful serenity.Even the songs built atop more traditional rock foundations exist in that liminal space between dreaming and waking life, confidence and doubt, raw feelings and soothing sounds. "Yes You Were" opens the record with a cold-start surge that's overwhelming in its immediacy, with Elizabeth's furiously strummed guitar jangle and wistful lyricism bearing all the adrenalized excitement and nervous energy of seeing old friends (or, in her case, fans) for the first time in ages. And as its title suggests, "Heartcore" is a collision of soft-focus sonics and emotional intensity, with Elizabeth's crystalline vocals hovering above a taut, relentless backbeat and disorienting synth squiggles. Even the turn-a-new-leaf optimism of "This Time" is presented less as a triumphant comeback statement than a warm reassuring embrace-its beautifully dazed 'n' confused psych-pop swirl acts as a calming force as you hurtle toward life's great unknown."It just seems like when we play that song, it seems to give people levity in the room and everyone lightens up and I think that's worth its weight in gold," says Elizabeth. "That's all I feel I'm trying to create: moods that are very conducive to connecting, that make people feel good enough to let their guard down and let them know it's okay to just open up."Fitting for a song about reconnecting with the world, "This Time" was the product of another fortuitous reunion-between Elizabeth and her old friend Sharon Van Etten, who lent her songwriting smarts and heavenly harmonies to that track, as well as "Heartcore" and the Fleetwood Mac-worthy "Loving." And Van Etten is just one member of a veritable indie-rock dream team Elizabeth recruited to complete the album: the moonlit ballad "In Florida" was recorded by producer John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Kurt Vile) in his New Jersey studio, with Elizabeth backed by former Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley and Roxy Music/Sparks bassist Sal Maida. From Montreal to Orillia to Toronto to New Jersey and back to Montreal again, the story of Life After Youth resembles one of those Raiders of the Lost Ark maps with the red routing lines bouncing back and forth into a blur-"which is kind of like what my brain is like," Elizabeth says with a laugh. But from that mental and geographic scramble, a work of great focus and clarity has emerged. The last time Elizabeth Powell brought new music into the world, Justin Bieber didn't have a criminal record, tinder was just something you used to start a campfire, and Donald Trump's assholery was still safely confined to reality-TV shows. To paraphrase the late David Bowie, it's been seven years, and Elizabeth's brain hurt a lot. But she stands today as the patient-zero case study for Life After Youth's therapeutic powers. These are the songs that got her through the tough times. And now, they can do the same for you.

There is a sizzle in the Las Vegas desert that keeps on going regardless of what the temperature is outside. It’s inside the Excalibur Hotel & Casino on the famed Las Vegas Strip, in the form (male that is) of Australia’s hottest export, Thunder From Down Under.

The internationally acclaimed Australian male revue show calls the nonstop, 90-minute, sensual journey “World Fantasy” and its charismatic troupe helps make fantasy become reality with the blink of an eye.

The troupe is performing to rave reviews and the ever-present screams of approval by women who are definitely feeling the heat when the handsome blokes with six-pack abs walk out on stage. This is when the room really heats up.

As a tribute to the Excalibur, Thunder provides its own version of “a knight in shining armor”. Let’s just say once the armor is removed, the ladies in the audience are in a near frenzy.

A swashbuckling guy who is ready to steal your heart and pirate you off to your own private fantasy is yours for the viewing at Thunder. You might even consider walking the plank with him if it leads up on stage where you can share some “up close and personal” moments.

Do you like a man in uniform? Well, we have several. Fireman, GI or naval officer, they are here for the asking. Any of these gorgeous guys will be your hero when you see what good shape they are in once they shed their uniforms.

Catch a look at our fireman and you’ll really know the meaning of being aflame with a burning desire. Once you see his electrifying performance you may never look at firefighters the same.

But, there is more. If you love dance and wish you could enjoy the disco days of the 70’s, break-dancing of the 80’s and be moving through the decades till the rap/hip-hop music of today, we’ve got you covered (or maybe more precisely, uncovered).

Thunder was named “Best Dancers” by the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper and show that they aren’t just your average run-of-the-mill strippers. More than 6 million women have seen the striking faces and physiques of the performers worldwide and they are still clamoring for more.

Thunder has toured more than 15 countries including…
Russia, England, Canada, South Africa, Europe, New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, Mexico, Ireland and the United States since it began 17 years ago.

Now in its eighth production, Thunder is in such demand that there is a second Thunder From Down Under troupe touring internationally, according to Thunder producers Billy Cross and Adam Steck.

There is a Thunder charm, a certain Thunder From Down Under way that separates this show from any other male revue. Perhaps that is what keeps the women flocking to Thunder performances. There is a devoted fan base of excited women all around the globe and that many women just can’t be wrong!

And, these guys with great personalities have made them a favorite as guests for television appearances that include but are not limited to E!’s Wild on Las Vegas, The Travel Channel, Surreal Life 3, VH1’s Strip Search, MTV, The Wayne Brady Show, The Best Damn Sports Show Period, Last Call with Carson Daly, Jenny Jones, Sally Jessie Raphael, CNN, Hard Copy, Entertainment Tonight, Leeza Gibbons, Donohue, and most lifestyle and entertainment programs in Australia.

Book limousine for The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

Rock and Roll Hotel
1353 H Street NE, Washington, DC, 20002

with Beverly, Ablebody
Days of Abandon, the long-awaited third record from New York's The Pains of Being Pure at Heart finds the band focusing on what's always set them apart from their peers songwriting. After two critically-acclaimed records (The New York Times, Pitchfork, The Guardian, Rolling Stone, Spin) that demonstrated the group's ability to shift musical registers from bedroom pop daydreams to Alternative Nation anthems, the band is poised to share a new vision of gilded pop idealism. Gliding along on bright, sleek guitars and light, skipping percussion. Abandon is big-hearted and tonic. From the crystalline confessional of "Art Smock" to the prom-in-heaven ready "Beautiful You," this rich and ever-striving sound serves as the perfect backdrop to showcase the renewed emotional depth and candor of Kip Berman's lyricism.Produced by Andy Savours (My Bloody Valentine, Patrick Wolf, Cloud Boat) and mixed by Charlie Hugall (Swim Deep, Florence And the Machine). Abandon is a bright and refreshing about-face from the roar and clamor that defined the group's last record, the Flood-and-Alan Moulder helmed Belong. "I didn't want to make Belonger," Berman says. "This album was a chance to push beyond that album's universal style of songwriting to something that was far more personal, more in keeping with my original ideals. I wanted the music to be joyful and full of light, even if the subjects were often dark.Where their debut stuck to a monochrome playbook of indiepop classics and their follow up was a wide-eyed paean to the 90s titans of American rock, Abandon is the Pains at their most sonically and emotionally complete. "Eurydice" hurtles forward like something out of the early House of Love catalog, guitar arpeggios glinting like dew on morning grass. The song sounds as triumphant as it is tragic, detailing an unresolvable loss. "Massokissed" strolls with the ease and assurance of vintage Aztec Camera, though its twisted desire and mordant wit ("a constant aversion to forgo perversion / beat up covertly in places they can't see") tempers any sense that this love is not wrong. "Kelly" is one dizzy pirouette, matching both the grace and sugary melodies of prime Saint Etienne with hopes for a love that likes "filthy films and swill" and rejects "quotes as jokes and coke." Like "Life After Life," it's sung by Jen Goma from A Sunny Day in Glasgow, and her bright, lively voice proves the perfect conduit for Berman's pop savvy. The record's title a nod toward Elena Ferrante's celebrated 2002 novel hints at both the freedom and the fear that comes with solitude. While The Pains of Being Pure at Heart has always been centered on Berman's songwriting, the amicable departure of three bandmates since the release of Belong allowed for new opportunities for growth and collaborations. The soaring vocals of Jen Goma are featured prominently throughout and help deliver on the pop promise the band has long aspired to. Likewise, multi-instrumentalist Kelly Pratt's (Beirut, David Byrne) horn arrangements on "Kelly," "Simple and Sure," "Life After Life" and "The Asp at My Chest" bring a newfound sophistication. No longer content to simply be "loud" or "soft," Abandon is a record that revels in nuance and grace,"I wanted the album to be powerful without being loud. Simply stepping on a fuzz pedal every 14 seconds felt like a crutch, though a pretty cool sounding crutch. I didn't want to hide these songs behind walls of distortion or elaborate studio wizardry." The result is a record that is as confident as it is cathartic."Music always says the things we can't say in conversation. So it feels hopeless to say why these songs feel more honest and vivid to me. But for the first time in a while, I feel the same sense of possibility I felt when I started the band."

Book limousine for Bruce Hornsby

Celebrity Theatre
440 North 32nd Street, Phoenix, AZ, 85008

Bruce Hornsby has built one of the most diverse, collaborative and adventurous careers in contemporary music. Drawing from a vast wellspring of American musical traditions, the singer/pianist/composer/bandleader has created a large and accomplished body of work and employed a vast array of stylistic approaches. Throughout this period, Hornsby has maintained the integrity, virtuosity and artistic curiosity that have been hallmarks of his work from the start. The 13-time Grammy nominee's commercial stock soared early on when "The Way It Is" the title track of Bruce Hornsby and the Range's 1986 debut album became the most-played song on American radio in 1987 and won ASCAP's Song of the Year award. "The Way It Is" and hits like "Mandolin Rain" and "Every Little Kiss" established Hornsby as a popular musician, while subsequent high-profile work with the likes of Don Henley, Willie Nelson, Charlie Haden and Bonnie Raitt made him an in-demand collaborator.Though a talented and instantly identifiable singer, bandleader and pianist, Hornsby is a songwriter at heart. He is committed to portraying his songs in new ways that allow them to evolve and expand. This approach was further developed during his time spent playing over one hundred shows with The Grateful Dead between 1990 and 1995. Hornsby found a kindred spirit in the Dead, with their vibrant tradition of loosely blending folk, jazz, blues and improvisation.Over the years, Hornsby has successfully ventured into jazz, classical, bluegrass and even electronica, reflected on acclaimed releases like the bluegrass project Ricky Skaggs and Bruce Hornsby (2007) and the jazz trio album Camp Meeting (2007), with Jack DeJohnette and Christian McBride. The prestigious list of Hornsby collaborators now includes diverse figures like Ornette Coleman, Bob Dylan, Bela Fleck, Elton John, Branford Marsalis, Pat Metheny, Robbie Robertson, Leon Russell, Chaka Khan, Wayne Shorter, Squeeze, Tupac Shakur, Eric Clapton, Stevie Nicks, Bob Seger and Sting. A University of Miami alum, Hornsby has also partnered with The Frost School of Music to establish the Creative American Music Program, a curriculum designed to develop the creative skills of talented young artist/songwriters by immersing them in the diverse traditions that form the foundations of modern American songwriting. In July of 2006, Bruce Hornsby released a four CD/DVD box set titled Intersections (1985-2005). A full third of the music was previously unreleased and most of the familiar tracks were presented as unreleased live versions. The set also featured "Song H," a new composition that was nominated for a Best Pop Instrumental Grammy award in 2007. Intersections is definitive in many ways, yet only tells part of the Virginia native's musical story. His three Grammy wins typify the diversity of his first decade of recording: Best New Artist as leader of Bruce Hornsby and the Range, Best Bluegrass Recording for a version of "The Valley Road" that appeared on the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's Will The Circle Be Unbroken Volume Two, and a shared award with Branford Marsalis in 1993 for Best Pop Instrumental Performance for "Barcelona Mona," a song for the 1992 Olympic Games. The sales stats and breadth of his superstar collaborations (including being sampled many times by rap/hip-hop artists) speak volumes about Hornsby's unique fusion of mainstream appeal and wild musical diversity. His albums have sold over 11 million copies worldwide. Harbor Lights was the 1994 winner of the Downbeat Reader's Poll Beyond Album of the Year (meaning all music other than Jazz and Blues). Tupac Shakur co-wrote a new song over "The Way It Is" music with Bruce, using new words, called "Changes"; it was a major worldwide hit, selling 14 million copies. Throughout the years, Hornsby has participated in several memorable events: the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opening concert in September 1995, Farm Aid IV and VI, the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, New Orleans Heritage and Jazz Festival, Woodstock II (1994), Woodstock III (1999), and Bonnaroo in 2011. An avid sports fan, Hornsby, solo and with Branford Marsalis has performed the National Anthem for many major events including the NBA All-Star game, four NBA finals, the 1997 World Series Game 5, the night Cal Ripken broke Lou Gehrig's all-time consecutive game streak, and the soundtrack to Baseball: A Film By Ken Burns.Indeed, Bruce Hornsby's restless musical spirit continues to spontaneously push him forward into exciting new musical pursuits. He's currently working on a prospective Broadway musical titled SCKBSTD. He's composed and recorded several projects for filmmaker Spike Lee including endtitle songs for two films, Clockers (1995) (with Chaka Khan) and Bamboozled (2001). Most recently, he has written and recorded the score to Kobe Doin' Work, Lee's 2009 ESPN documentary on Kobe Bryant, and Lee's latest work, 2012's Red Hook Summer. Hornsby is also featured onscreen in and contributed music to the Robin Williams/Bobcat Goldthwaite film World's Greatest Dad (2009). 2011 brought the release of Bride Of The Noisemakers - an ambitious 25 track, double CD chronicling 2007-2009 live performances of some of the singer/songwriter and pianist's handpicked songs of the past 23 years. The songs are recorded live capturing the playful, freewheeling spirit of his longtime band The Noisemakers. Such projects are consistent with Hornsby's lifelong pursuit of musical transcendence. "To me," says Hornsby, "it's always been about staying inspired, broadening my reach and moving into new areas. So it's a fantastic situation to be able to do that, and to continue to pursue a wide-ranging musical life."

Book limo for Quintron And Miss Pussycat

Mississippi Studios
3939 North Mississippi Avenue, Portland, OR, 97227

with Lithics, The Lavender Flu, Mattress
Quintron and Miss Pussycat have been making genre-defying noise and hard rocking dance music in New Orleans for over fifteen years. The majority of their 14 full-length albums have the psychedelic soul of traditional New Orleans party music filtered through a tough distorted Hammond B-3 and a cache of self-made electronic instruments. MISS PUSSYCAT plays maracas and sings, as well as entertaining all age groups with her highly amusing technicolor puppet shows.Hers are complex puppet shows beautifully crafted for success in intimate venues of late night drinking and dancing: tactile, idiosyncratic characters, pithy dialogue, electronically pixilated soundtracks, and trippy black light effects create a visual and engaging overture/finale to Quintron and Miss Pussycat's music sets. Quintron aids in puppet manipulation and voicing. Miss Pussycat, in turn, sings lead and back-up and plays maracas during Quintron's performances.Quintron has released strange soundscapes based on inner-city field recordings of frogs and neighborhood ambiance as well as holing himself up in THE NEW ORLEANS MUSEUM OF ART for three months to create the epic "Sucre Du Sauvage" (Goner, 2011). In addition to his own recordings, Quintron has played organ on a number of other records, most notably THE OBLIVIONS "9 Songs" and STEVE RILEY AND THE MAMOU PLAYBOYS "Grand Isle" which was nominated for a Grammy in 2012 and featured the Quintron penned song "Chatterbox". Most recently Quintron has been releasing albums under the name "WEATHER WARLOCK", a project which features his mammoth weather controlled analog synthesizer. He and Miss Pusscyat were the chosen to be resident artists at the ROBERT RAUSCHENBERG FOUNDATION and it was there that he conceived and completed that project while Miss Pussycat perfected the art of the inflatable puppet theater.Quintron regards his most significant creation to be a patented instrument called THE DRUM BUDDY, a light activated analog synthesizer which creates murky, low-fidelity, rhythmic patterns. Notable DRUM BUDDY clients include performers Nels Cline of Wilco, Laurie Anderson, Fred Armisen, and DJ Mr. Dibbs. The Quintron / Miss Pussycat experience is one of barely controlled electronic chaos, "Swamp-Tech" dance beats, small explosions, incredible clothes, and entertaining puppet stories. You can see them perform regularly at the Spellcaster Lodge in New Orleans, Louisiana or on one of their many tours around the world. This act somehow has equal relevance in sleazy nightclubs, pizza restaurants, and university lecture halls."Miss Pussycat has a new puppet show soundtrack album out on Terror Vision called "Anthropomorphizer" and Quintron (as Weather Warlock) is about to release "Sympathetic Magic", an album recorded live in Abu Dhabi with mostly Middle Eastern improvisers.

Book limousine for Marcia Ball

The Soiled Dove Underground
7401 East First Avenue, Denver, CO, 80230

The New York Times says, Marcia Ball plays two-fisted New Orleans barrelhouse piano and sings in a husky, knowing voice about all the trouble men and women can get into on the way to a good time. Living Blues declares, Her originals sound like timeless classics and southern soul masterpieces that no one else can imitate. Of the new album, Ball says, I dont make a record until I have something to say, stories to tell, messages to impart. I try to make records that are true to me, she continues, and this one couldnt be truer. On The Tattooed Lady And The Alligator Man, the message is loud and clear: Marcia Ball has plenty of surprising and thought-provoking stories to tell, and the two-fisted piano prowess, sweet and soulful vocals and superlative songs with which to tell them.

Book limousine for DragonForce @ Slim's w/ Once Human

Slim's
333 Eleventh Street, San Francisco, CA, 94103

Door 8 / Show 9 Long running Grammy-nominated extreme melodic power metal band DragonForce release their seventh album, ‘Reaching Into Infinity’, on May 19. Once again recorded with Jens Bogren (Opeth, Katatonia, Soilwork), the producer extraordinaire who helmed the UK-based group’s now three-year- old previous record ‘Maximum Overload’, it will be available via earMUSIC in Europe, Metal Blade Records in the United States and Roadrunner in Japan. ‘Reaching Into Infinity’ introduces Italian drummer Gee Anzalone, who joined the band for their first ever ‘best-of’ collection, ‘Killer Elite: The Hits, The Highs, The Vids’, released in 2016. It’s the third DragonForce album to feature frontman Marc Hudson, whose reign at the mic now enters its sixth year. “Marc is becoming more and more involved with the writing process, especially in the lyrics,” acknowledges guitarist Herman Li. “Mostly, though, these songs came from Frédéric [Leclercq, bassist] and Sam [Totman, guitarist].” Musically speaking, ‘Reaching Into Infinity’ continues where DragonForce left off with ‘Maximum Overload’, the band’s faster material becoming even faster still, while the melodic parts head even further in that particular direction. The band offer no apologies for the inclusion of a 1980s rock-style ballad entitled ‘Silence’ and, at the other end of the spectrum, there’s even an 11-minute multi- tempoed monster called ‘The Edge Of The World’. “‘The Edge Of The World’ is DragonForce’s longest ever song,” says Li proudly. “In some ways, this album is more epic than anything we’ve done before.” ‘The Edge Of The World’ is extremely ambitious, channelling growled vocals from Hudson and fusing them with a stunning arrangement that twists and turns like the proverbial dragon’s tail. The ’Force go prog-rock, anyone? “Why not?” Li responds. “Marc’s favourite style of music is prog, and I’m a massive fan of Dream Theater, so there’s an element of that going on. With each album that we make, the band reveals more and more if its influences, constantly adding to what we can do.” “We have proven that playing fast is something we were good at, so this time I wanted to bring even more diversity into our music,” Fred elaborates. “It’s great to challenge ourselves instead of staying in a comfort zone, and I really wanted to experiment with Marc’s vocals. I think people are going to be surprised at his brutality.” The title corresponds with the album’s highly impressive sleeve art, which features a dragon bursting through a wormhole into a hi-tech, futuristic cityscape. “The dragon represents us – DragonForce – and a form of music that’s been around for a very long time, emerging into an outside world that’s infinitely more crazy and chaotic than it was ten years ago,” Li explains, using considerable understatement. “Everyone is saying that there’s no future and there’s a lot of fear and uncertainty, especially for younger people, but our music is an escape from it all.” The bulk of the album was laid down at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden, though additional parts were cut in studios around the UK and in California. They had to be – “Since ‘Killer Elite’ it’s been non- stop for us,” Li comments. Adds Leclercq: “We flew out, played a festival, headed back into the studio, then went back out again. It was very intense and tiring. I obviously played bass but also a lot of rhythm guitar, electric and acoustic, and lost my temper a few times – I think we all did at some point, because we wanted to deliver nothing but the best.” Expect many of these songs to become firm live favourites, particularly the super-fast ‘Midnight Madness’ (feted as the album’s second video track), when DragonForce hit the road again. As usual, their itinerary will take them to the four corners of the world. Book limousine for NITE JEWEL

Rickshaw Stop
155 Fell Street, San Francisco, CA, 94102

with GENEVA JACUZZI, Harriet Brown, plus DJ Aaron Axelsen (popscene)
California native Ramona Gonzalez first began her transcendent minimalist dance-pop escapades in the privacy of her own home in Los Angeles. With the aid of her multitrack cassette recorder and whatever keyboards, drum machines, and other instruments that were available to her, she very quickly developed her own unique sound and began performing live in the L.A. area under the moniker Nite Jewel.Later teaming up with Cole M. Greif-Neill (formerly of Ariel Pinks Haunted Graffiti), the Nite Jewel act became four piece live act, touring alongside the likes of Little Dragon, DaM FunK, and James Blake. The Nite Jewel sound has been likened to that of a warped, lo-fi version of Late-80s Freestyle Electro sensation Debbie Deb and has also found appeal among not just the indie rock & experimental crowd but also among avid listeners of hip hop, funk, disco, & soul. While very fond of these aforementioned genres and artists, Nite Jewel gathers much of her inspiration from the likes of L.A. Free Music Societys experimentalist Tom Recchion, obscure UK new age electro-acoustic duo Woo, and the sublime ambient electronic music of groups like Germanys Cluster and Italys Sensations Fix. Nite Jewel never hesitates, however, to cite 90s R&B pop groups such as TLC & SWV as influences who left an indelible mark on her music sensibilities as a teenager.Over the past few years, LA s Nite Jewel has honed its pop-funk craft across releases from Italians Do It Better, Mexican Summer and LAs own Gloriette Records. In that time, her airy but often distant voice has found new gravitas and charisma. Meanwhile, the synth lines have gotten more agile and the bass pops tighter and tighter. The stuttered 80s synth R&B melodies unfold into one another here in ways both giddy and deceivingly nonchalant. This maturation and evolution will all come to a head in early 2012 when Secretly Canadian will release Nite Jewels proper full-length follow up to her brilliant 2008 LP, Good Evening.

Book limo for Zepparella

Sweetwater Music Hall
19 Corte Madera Avenue, Mill Valley, CA, 94941

How to honor the legacy of a band deemed sacred? To tread on holy ground is perilous, and must be done with the intent and spirit of a disciplePay attention to the intricacies of the magic, explore the far ends of the innovation, strive for ever-growing ability, and let the purity of the love for the music drive it all.Drummer Clementine is the founding member of ZEPPARELLA. From the beginning of her musical career, her goal has been to be onstage every night. The pursuit of that goal has led Clementine to constantly tour the US and Europe in projects as diverse as Bottom, AC/DShe, The House Of More, The Solid, Francis Bakin, and Stars Turn Me On. She tackles the best rock drumming ever written with her own emotionally powerful style, bringing the Motown influence of the Bonham groove to the forefront. The profound musical connection established with Gretchen Menn (guitar), Angeline Saris (bass), and Noelle Doughty (vocals) creates the bond required to do this great music justice. It was under the tutelage of classical guitarist Phillip DeFremery, a student of Andrs Segovia, that guitarist Gretchen Menn began her path on the instrument. Playing with tireless passion and constantly seeking out new challenges, her projects are often unconventional, genre-bending expressions combining elements of classical, rock, progressive, jazz, and metal. On influences, Gretchen has never tired of her initial inspirationsEric Johnson, Steve Morse, Frank Zappa, and Jeff Beck. But she has loved Jimmy Pages guitar playing longer than she has played the guitar. It was through the music of Led Zeppelin that she found a gateway into music that resonated deeply with her, creating a love for guitar-oriented music, and, ultimately, the guitar.Bassist Angeline Saris has musical passions that span jazz to speed metal, R&B to rock, Cuban to hip-hop, and flamenco to rockabilly. Angeline has done it all - and does it extremely well. It is this versatility, her rock-solid time, tastefully crafted bass lines, and unequivocal skills that give her the ability to bring cohesion to the eclectic Zeppelin catalog. Angeline credits John Paul Jones as a main influence, so it is no surprise that she shines as she interprets his thunder. Finally, singer Noelle Doughty has found her way back to where she started, with a passion for Led Zeppelins music that was developed from as far back as she can remember, as the little sister in the room with the rocking older brothers. The kid who knew every word to every song has worked in classic rock cover bands, jazz bands, funk bands, and yet never lost her true love for Zeppelin. After moving to the West Coast from New York State, her fortuitous meeting with Gretchen Menn backstage at a Robert Plant concert brought the final puzzle piece to the Zepparella family. Noelles clear and powerful style and deep understanding of the emotional content of these great songs make the picture complete. Now more than ever, Zepparella explores their own improvised magic within the framework of Zeppelins mighty songs!

Book limo for David Blaine Live

Hippodrome at France-Merrick Performing Arts Center
12 North Eutaw Street, Baltimore, MD, 21203

Having revolutionized modern magic and mesmerized audiences unlike any performer in history, magician, illusionist, and stunt artist David Blaine will embark on his first-ever North American tour, announced today.

Blaine’s one-man show brings his unique brand of entertainment, promising to be an unforgettable interactive experience that both shocks and amuses. An experiment in and of itself, the tour will evolve as it moves across the country as Blaine continues to push the limits and attempt new feats for the first time live in front of his audiences. Described by Howard Stern as the greatest magician that ever lived, David Blaine single-handedly redefined magic after producing and directing his original television special Street Magic when he was just twenty-three, which Penn Jillette of Penn & Teller called “the best TV magic special ever done.” The New York Times noted that Blaine has “taken a craft that’s been around for hundreds of years and done something unique and fresh with it,” whilst The New Yorker claimed “he saved magic.”

Over the last two decades, Blaine’s nine primetime specials have seen him being buried alive in New York City for a week, encased inside a six-ton block of ice for three days, survived standing atop a 100ft tall pillar in Bryant Park for 36 hours without a safety net, endured 44 days inside a transparent box in London on nothing but water, and had over one million volts discharged at him continuously for 72 hours from seven Tesla coils. Blaine also spent one week submerged in a sphere-shaped aquarium at Lincoln Center, before breaking the world record for breath holding live on the Oprah Winfrey show where he held his breath for over 17 minutes. As well as performing to audiences of over 20,000 in arenas around the world, since graduating high school he has performed intimately for every sitting U.S President including Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, as well as other international leaders and prominent figures such as Bill Gates, Henry Kissinger, Michael Bloomberg, Stephen Hawking and Muhammad Ali, among others. It's hard to say exactly when it happened. It could've been during one of the 100+ shows STRFKR played over the past two yearsecstatic sold-out dance parties that started in tiny, sweaty rooms before word of mouth spread and forced a move to larger (and even sweatier) venues. It might've been when touring guitarist Patrick Morris officially became a full-time member in late 2011, rounding out a line-up that included multi-instrumentalists Josh Hodges, Shawn Glassford, and Keil Corcoran. Most likely, though, there wasn't a single defining moment when the change occurred. With evolution there rarely is.Instead, progression happens naturally and steadilyeach step leading inevitably to the next until you reach a point when you realize how far you've come without even being fully aware of how you got there. In early 2012, during a rare break in the group's touring schedule, Hodges retreated to secluded Astoria, Oregon. But this time, rather than completely isolating himself to work on new material (as had always been the case in the past), Hodges invited the other members to visit often and truly collaborate in the process of writing STRFKR's third full-length, Miracle Mile. And so it was that STRFKR became a band.As a result, whether participating in all-night lyric writing sessions, fleshing out song skeletons originally conceived during European soundchecks ("Malmo") and long van rides ("Leave It All Behind"), or completing half-finished ideas kicking around Hodges' brain and hard drive, there isn't a single song on Miracle Mile that every member of STRFKR didn't contribute to and ultimately improve. For proof, look no further than first single and opening track "While I'm Alive," a song that bursts out of the gate with what can only be described as swagger. Not overconfidence or false bravado, but the undeniable sound of a band that knows exactly who they are: swirling keyboards that take you up, down, and all around, rhythmic guitars, irresistible basslines, and drums that keep an unrelenting beat.Disco-y standout "Atlantis" is the paragon of this formula, with vocal and musical hooks seemingly custom fitted to a spot so deep inside your eardrums they'll never dislodge. But upbeat isn't Miracle Mile's only tempo. In fact, it's in quieter moments like "Isea," which briefly slows down the album's pulse with gentle "oh-oh-ohs" over acoustic guitar, that the record truly coalesces as a complete whole that couldn't have come together any other way.Just like STRFKR.

Grammy winning keyboardist and composer Gregg Karukas is enjoying the rare accomplishment of two consecutive #1 hit songs and three TOP 5 chart hits from his stellar 2014 CD release "Soul Secrets". His latest single, "Rio Drive" hit #1 on The Billboard and Smooth Jazz Top 20 charts which monitor the national airplay on radio and internet stations. It follows "Elegant Nights" which hit the top of the charts in January of 2015. "Only You", the third single dedicated to Gregg's wife Yvonne, hit #2 on Smooth Jazz Top 20 in July 2016. Gregg recently brought his melodic grooves to the Catalina Jazztrax Festival for his 4th headline show last October. One of urban contemporary jazz's most versatile and acclaimed artists for over 25 years, Gregg won the Grammy for producing, composing, arranging, playing all keyboards and engineering Echoes of Love, which won Best New Age Album at the 55th Grammy Awards in February 2013. He has had a diverse career in music with a long list of credits in all media; Gregg arranged and played all keyboards on the theme songs to Disney's Ducktales and Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers and is a veteran of lots of TV/Film music sessions, (Cheers, Stand and Deliver, Life Goes On, Mr. Wrong). As a solo artist, Gregg's 11 all-original CDs have garnered consistently solid reviews for his signature piano touch, pristine production, and melodies that are both soulful and sophisticated. Always in demand as a musical director and keyboardist, Gregg has received multiple Best Keyboardist nominations at the Oasis and National Smooth Jazz Awards. His best-known songs, "Elegant Nights (#1), "Rio Drive"(#1), "Girl in the Red Dress" (#4) "Nightshift" (#1), and Jessy J.'s #1 hit "Tropical Rain" showcase Gregg's funky, melodic compositional style familiar to his fans. "People say my music sounds romantic and uplifting - and I look so happy on stage," he says. "It's totally true. For me, the best music comes out of an inner feeling of either intense happiness or sadness. I always try to stay faithful to that original inspiration, because that is where the true 'sound of emotion' comes from." Gregg's contagious smile and positive attitude shows in his concerts, as he has emerged over the years as one of the genre's most dynamic and inspiring live performers since he first took the stage in 1987 with the original Rippingtons and toured through the years with superstars Boney James, Sergio Mendes, and Larry Carlton.

Book limousine for Split Lip Rayfield

Sweetwater Music Hall
19 Corte Madera Avenue, Mill Valley, CA, 94941

with The Good Bad
From the blood-red heart of Kansas, Split Lip Rayfield is going stronger than ever. Its completely fair to call these guys legends. Its been more than 20 years since they first mashed up their aggressive stew of acoustic bluegrass instrumentation, tight country vocals, fierce metal shred and in-your-face punk sensibilities. One observer said we all owe them a huge debt for not only defining a sound, but stretching the possibilities of the acoustic music world. Fans of Flatt & Scruggs and Metallica could find a common tent to party under. So yeah, they virtually invented thrashgrass. But then they kept right on moving as their chops, songs and selves grew stronger from hard-won experience. Following the 2007 death of their beloved bandmate and founder Kirk Rundstrom, SLR reinvented itself by simply staying the course and continuing to playing hundreds of shows. And now, after five studio records and a handful of live recordings, Split Lip Rayfield has just released On My Way. (Release date January 1, 2017)The new album highlights the powerful songwriting talents of banjo innovator Eric Mardis and mandolin renegade Wayne Gottstine, while bassist Jeff Eaton holds it all down with his hand-built one-string Stitchgiver. All of that old-school invention and energy is intact, and they still stomp the living hell out of a stage. But their songs keep getting better, and their sound is sneakier and smarter than ever. Split Lip Rayfield is still the same band with the same ideals that weve had for years, said Gottstine. But were more diverse, sound-wise, than we have ever been before.Their fans know this: Split Lip Rayfield truly delivers. Every record is a revelation, and every concert is an unforgettable experience. Dont miss these guys.

Book limousine for Nite Jewel

Barboza
925 E. Pike St, Seattle, WA, 98122

with Geneva Jacuzzi, Harriet Brown
Two songs into her new record, Nite Jewel asks the operative question: was that a sign? The Los Angeles native has spent much of the past four years mulling that over. Her 2012 album, One Second of Love, captivated listeners for its willingness to play in the fringes of pop; elements of dance and electronic music were warped and bent into something that was equal parts foreign and instinctual. It served as the culmination of an aesthetic that the singer, born Ramona Gonzalez, had been cultivating since the last Bush years, and it was inescapable if you frequented the right crevices of California. But when it came time to follow it up, Gonzalez realized the world was pointing her in a new direction. This story has been told before. Nite Jewel churned out demos for years, with her record label questioning whether she could go "pop" or not. The influence proved toxic. She realized she needed to separate from them; she had worked independently with success in the past and could do it again. She needed to remind herself why she was making music in the first place. And by the top of last year, she made that happen.Last January, the pieces started falling into place. "I put all my gearincluding my 8 trackin a walk-in closet," Gonzalez says. " I was free from the authority of a label and was back in my element. I felt like I had found my identity again." She was independent, free from authority, and able to regain creative control. The end result is Liquid Cool, a fascinating collection of nine songs produced and performed entirely by Nite Jewel. The record explores the theme of aloneness in a crowded and disconnected world. On "Over the Weekend," Gonzalez aims for a kind of skeletal, kinetic intrigue that unspools into an of-the-moment rallying cry; "Boo Hoo" provides a danceable groove underscoring a tearful refrain; "Kiss the Screen" sounds like the best date you had in high school if it had taken place on Mars. "I felt like I was trying to talk to my audience, but couldn't be heard," she says. "There were barriers like money and bureaucracy." Liquid Cool examines that lack of connection, and does so in intoxicating fashion. Liquid Cool is due out June 10th via Gloriette Records, Nite Jewel's own imprint on which she released her debut. Free from the constraints of corporate backing, the new album is poised to cut through the din of 2016 and move listeners in incisive and deeply personal ways. Music is usually an act of world building, creating a new plane on which an artist can exist; Liquid Cool is about stripping away the pieces of our own lives until we can really see one another again."For her first album in four years, Los Angeles artist and producer Ramona Gonzalez pared down her sound to its bedroom-disco essence. Drawing on the vibe of contemporary R&B, vintage synth pop and underground beat music, her new album, "Liquid Cool," brims with anthemic hooks but offers them with a relaxed ambivalence. With textures that suggest "Dirty Mind"-era Prince, the concise three- and four-minute tracks vibe like never-were AM radio hits. It was written and performed by Gonzalez in her home's walk-in closet; as a result, "Liquid Cool" is missing the commercial sheen that propels could-be hits onto the mainstream charts. In its stead, though, is something more vital: a singular artistic vision." - Los Angeles Times "Essential Summer Music Guide" review of "Liquid Cool""Combining both lush, elaborate pop and darker, deconstructed electro, Gonzalez adeptly owns her sound throughout her long-awaited return." - Consequence Of Sound"Over 9-tracks, she expands on the ethereal sound she has put forward on past releases, providing a dose of chilliness before the heat of summer." - The Fader

Book limousine for Beach Fossils

Holocene
1001 SE Morrison, Portland, OR, 97214

with She-Devils, Ablebody
Beach Fossils began in 2009 as the solo project of Dustin Payseur. Before and after the 2010 release of the S/T debut LP and 2011's What A Pleasure EP, they performed around the world with a lineup that once featured Cole Smith (DIIV) and John Pea (Heavenly Beat). They quickly became known for their highly energetic stage show, bringing the recorded work to a volume and tempo that would make even the indie-est of crowds wind up in a frenzy. With the exception of drummer Tommy Gardner, that lineup dissolved to pursue their ambitions with the aforementioned projects. Wanting to bridge the gap between the live and recorded aspects of the band, Dustin began writing Clash the Truth determined to capture the urgency, human flow and spontaneity of the live performance. Now with a full time drummer (and co-writer of two tracks on the LP) Beach Fossils entered the studio in the fall of 2012 with producer Ben Greenberg of The Men. Instead of merely going from a "bedroom DiY" project to a "better fidelity studio project" the deliberate decision to work with Ben was determined to capture, if not in style, the spirit and enthusiasm of punk and aggressive music in general. To ensure that dynamic, the drums were recorded live in a room with Dustin on bass to give the album a driving and energetic force. Consider the titles "Generational Synthetic," "Caustic Cross" and "Burn You Down," it's easy to see how the record, while not a punk or post-punk record by strict definition, certainly nods to the first major influence of Dustin's creative spark. The first two notes of the title track that kick the LP off are a clear indicator of where his head was at.The LP also sees Dustin stretching his songwriting muscles, with the acoustic Lennon-esque "Sleep Apnea" and the dreamy "In Vertigo", which features the vocals of Kazu Makino (Blonde Redhead). During the recording period, the studio was flooded and destroyed by hurricane Sandy and the band had to relocate to another studio to finish the LP in earnest. It all came together when the work of legendary video artist Peter Campus was finalized to be featured throughout the release and on the striking cover. Clash the Truth marks a clear progression in the ongoing story of Beach Fossils. Drawing from the previous works' melodic strengths and uncanny guitar textures emboldened by a sound closer to their energetic and cathartic live set, it's the clear next step in the trajectory of the band and the dis-association from the home-recording boom from which it originated.

THE SWORD

One of the foundations of the metal revival of the past ten years, Austin TX's The Sword have released two flawless slabs of vintage heaviness on Kemado Records, toured the world with Metallica, and were one of the first bands to lock into a whole new legion of fans through Guitar Hero. This summer, the band casts its gaze to the stars for Warp Riders, their third full-length and their most ambitious effort to date.

Warp Riders is The Sword's first concept album, a science fiction maelstrom put to the storming, relentless riffage and pounding rhythms upon which the band has staked its reputation. It's also their most flat-out, supercharged, adrenaline-pumping work yet, a chrome-plated war machine that lords over the blackened sky. From the street-prowling anthems "Night City" and "Lawless Lands" to the two-part showdown of "The Chronomancer," to the furious mechanics of closing track "(The Night the Sky Cried) Tears of Fire," The Sword forces eminent domain ruling over heavy metal for the next decade, and welcome all challengers for an ill-fated shot at the title.

Warp Riders tells the tale of Ereth, an archer banished from his tribe on the planet Acheron. A hardscrabble planet that has undergone a tidal lock, which has caused one side to be scorched by three suns, and the other enshrouded in perpetual darkness, it is the background for a tale of strife and fantasy, the battle between pure good and pure evil. How it's told — through the dueling lead guitars of J.D. Cronise and Kyle Shutt, and the concussive rhythm section of bassist Bryan Ritchie and drummer Trivett Wingo — underscores the narrative with molten steel and unreal precision.

Guitarist and lead vocalist J.D. Cronise explains the lineage of Warp Riders: "I'm pretty sure the first concept album I ever heard was Operation: Mindcrime by Queensrÿche when I was a kid, which I was way into. Even though I never really understood the whole story, I was nonetheless enthralled by how the album created its own world. I wanted to create a setting for our songs that would be unique and different, but still a place where epic sagas unfold in proper Sword fashion." Inspiration took hold from "lots of things "¦ the legend of Atlantis, old Heavy Metal magazines, the films of René Laloux, a childhood dream, and The Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Castaneda to name a few."

The story of Warp Riders, entitled "The Night The Sky Cried Tears Of Fire" (written by Cronise), follows Ereth as he discovers a mysterious orb and meets the Chronomancer, a being beyond time and space who enlists him in a quest to restore the planet's balance. Along the way he encounters strange warriors, mysterious witches, ancient androids, and a crew of space pirates with a vessel that will alter the course of history… a vessel known as, The Sword.

Our five piece rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1999 and after playing the Sunset Strip clubs and self producing EPs for a couple of years, we made our self titled major label debut and hit the road. We travelled all over the U.S., the U.K. and even made it as far as Japan. We toured with Weezer, The Strokes, Sloan, The Sounds, The Donnas, Travis, Keane and many others. After our first record reached nearly gold status and yielded two successful singles, we retreated to L.A. where, after many hold ups, we recorded "Calling the World" over three weeks time. We then toured the world for another year and half with an eclectic bunch of artists including Ben Lee and The Polyphonic Spree. Our first single off the record climbed to number 1 in Germany and subsequently took us all over Europe multiple times.2009 found us back in L.A. recording and experimenting in our new home studios while transitioning into a new label situation. We formed our own record label "California Dreamin'" and released our "Wild One" e.p. at the end of 2009 and our 3rd full length release "Eureka!" in June of 2010. Since then, we've enjoyed touring with The Crash Kings, The Young Veins, Black Gold, Hanson, and Eisley. We are currently enjoying our return to the independent spirit upon which we were founded and are looking back at a career which now spans over a decade. Thank you to all of our friends and fans who have taken the trip with us...we play for you.-Rooney

The long-awaited return of Brooklyns Beach Fossils, Somersault showcases a band in bloom. Charting into new musical territory with a refined songwriting style, its an album that captures flashes of life in New York grounded in personal experience. The bands self-titled 2010 debut established a sound that was both minimal and enveloping. With Somersault, the groups first release since 2013s Clash the Truth, Beach Fossils have channeled years of experimentation into expansion and reinvention. Augmented with more complex instrumentation, including string arrangements, piano, harpsichord, flute, and sax, the new songs offer multi-layered pop guided by sharp, poignant, and honest lyrics. As the bands first release on Dustin Payseurs new label Bayonet Records, which he co-owns with wife Kate Garciathe group made the most of their newfound independence, investing ample time in expanding its range both musically and lyrically. While Payseur handled the bulk of the songwriting duties in the past, Somersault is a true collaboration between the founding member and bandmates, Jack Doyle Smith and Tommy Davidson. The new songs speak to a more fluid, eclectic sound, filled with lush compositions formed by studio experiments and sam-pling of the bands own recordings.Orchestral pop gem Saint Ivy shines with plucked strings, buoyant basslines and a propulsive, wayward, guitar. Tangerine, a driving, tightly wound melody, rushes forward and briefly leaves the ground due to the gossamer guest vocals of Slowdives Rachel Goswell. The effervescent Rise, which hinges on the spoken word of Gavin Mays (Cities Aviv) discussing a failed rela-tionship, hangs, like many recent breakups, in a sense of suspension. The cloudy, wistful Soci-al Jetlag, bustling with samples of crowded streets, features the type of candid, off-the-cuff lyr-ics that make the entire effort immediately illuminating.Recorded at multiple studios across New York City, a cabin in upstate New York, and even Los Angeles (including the home studio of Jonathan Rado of Foxygen, who helped engineer part of the album), Somersault turns the newfound chemistry between the trio into a sonic tapestry. Due to the variety of sessions and recording locations, the album was a Frankenstein-like series of reworking and reimagining songs. As the group pieced together different parts in a cycle of creation and cooption, and built out more elaborate songs track by track, the process became more reminiscent of a record created via sampling and arranging than one built by simply grind-ing out riffs. The long-simmering album, filled with breezy music both melancholic and uplifting, sees the band channeling their voices and honing their craft.Flowing between shimmering compositions and immersive soundscapes, Somersault evokes the laid-back mood of a warm, breezy city night, the air crackling with humidity and excitement. These songs pulse and pull, capturing a blend of promise and heartache. Its beautiful and lay-ered, a refined, sweeping creation that threads together numerous styles, textures, and themes into a refreshing, singular vision.

Book limousine for Delbert McClinton

Aladdin Theater
3017 SE Milwaukie Ave., Portland, OR, 97202

Delbert McClinton: Everything Will Be RosyMulti-Grammy Award winner Delbert McClinton is One of the Fortunate Few, who has managed to live his dreams for more than six decades. The stars have aligned for Delbert. Those stars may have leaned toward the blues, but Delbert has managed to keep them on the bright side. Ive Got Dreams To Remember: The Early Years He was born four years after Buddy Holly in the musically fertile grounds of Lubbock, Texas. He cut his teeth on Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys at Lubbocks legendary Cotton Club. When he was 12, Delberts family moved to Fort Worth so his father could work on the Rock Island Railroad. As a teenager, Delbert had a backstage and front row seat to learn from the masters as his teenage band grew into the house band at Fort Worths Jack's Place on the Jacksboro Highway, backing blues legends like Jimmy Reed, Howlin Wolf, Freddie King, Albert Collins, and Gatemouth Brown. Startin A Rumor: Delbert and Lennon His reputation grew, and when he was 22, he traveled with Bruce Channel to England to tour in support of Channels hit Hey Baby, on which he played harmonica. Delbert and John Lennon spent time over a period of several days. The two 22-year old young musician/singers had a lot in common. Delbert explains, The Beatles were opening for us on the tour. They would open the show, then I would play three songs or so, and then Bruce (Channel) would come out and we would do the headliner set. John wanted me to give him some tips on harmonica. The storys been romanticized. I didnt really teach him. I showed him what I did. When to suck and when to blow. Nothing really more than that. Although it was a moment in time.Livin It Down: Back to TexasDelbert returned to Texas and continued playing with legendary blues musicians, hitting the road when he could. During the 1960s, he married and had a son, Monty, before the marriage crashed. He continued playing in and around Fort Worth until he took up with a female friend who had just gotten divorced. She talked him into heading to Los Angeles. Two More Bottles of Wine: The Los Angeles YearsSo McClinton moved to Los Angeles in the early 1970s to record with his songwriter partner, Glen Clark. The duo, under the name Delbert & Glen, released two albums with Atlantic Records. The relationship with the divorcee didnt last long, but the day she left, he sat on the mattress in a dank rent house, and wrote a song about sweeping out a warehouse in West Los Angeles that became the first megahit for Emmylou Harris, Two More Bottles of Wine. And thus, began his series of its all right themes. Aint Lost Nothin: Texas and TennesseeMcClinton went home to Texas, met his second wife, and had his second son, Clay. They moved to Nashville, and he signed with ABC Records. In 1975, he released his first solo project, Victim of Lifes Circumstances. For the rest of the decade, McClinton released a string of successful albums and songs, including 1980s Top 10 hit, Givin It Up For Your Love.Changes in tax laws and liberal tax advisors caused Delbert and his friend, Willie Nelson to wind up in the same tax shelter boat in the early 1980s, a time that has often been called Delberts Lost Years.No. I wasnt lost. I know where I was, Delbert says, I was working for the IRS. They decided that I owed them several hundred thousand dollars. So I was playing for $700 a night and traveling with a loyal band, with the mattress I was born on under a camper shell in the back of the pickup Sometimes the feds would show up at the gig and want all of our money. But we managed to get to the next gig.Pledging My Love: The Good LifeAlong the way, he met his forever wife, Wendy Goldstein, a news producer for NBC, who agreed to a date after he played Saturday Night Live. A whirlwind romance followed. (She admits that the network held a position for her for 18 months, just in case she changed her mind.) Nearly 30 years later, she is still on board. And thanks to Wendy, Delbert got straight with the IRS, and has celebrated the greatest successes of his career, including his third child, a daughter, Delaney. McClinton earned his first Grammy nomination in 1989 for Live from Austin and his first win in 1991 for his duet with Bonnie Raitt on Good Man, Good Woman. The following year, McClinton collaborated on projects with Melissa Etheridge, Tom Petty, and Tanya Tucker, with whom he partnered on the popular, Tell Me About It.McClinton earned two more Grammys
